4.77 1/4 times?
So I'm sure this has been talked about before, but the site won't let you use characters like . or / in your search... which made finding this information almost impossible.
In 5th gear you'd top out at around 106mph... I assume you wouldn't need the 6th gear shift to get through the quarter. If this is the case, shouldn't the 4.77s make a HUGE difference in 1/4 times? Does anyone have runs with these gears?
Looks like I'm picking up a set tonight, so I'm just curious.

This has been covered in some threads, basically if you have a stock or lightly-modded car (like yours) the 4.77s are just as fast as the 4.57s in the quarter, b/c with the 4.57s you do not need to make the 4-5 shift as you do with the 4.77s, I think 4th with the 4.57s tops out at about 104 (not sure, don't quote me on that last part though). Either way you should be somewhere around 13.4-13.5 in the quarter, which is no slouch for a car that's "not a drag car"
Once you start trapping at over about 107-109, the 4.77s might make a difference, maybe ask in the Forced Induction forum as those guys have the power to drop into the 12s, some much deeper than that.

I HIGHLY doubt that an s2000 can lose half a second in the quarter mile by changing from the stock gear ratio to the 4.77's. I will only believe it once I see back-to-back testing on the same care and same track.

Just make sure you have a good and trustworthy diff shop do the work.

^.2 to .3 seconds....ha Sure SOME S2k owners have managed to go 13.8 or so stock. The AVERAGE time for an S2000 in the 1/4 is 14.0
So yes ~ 1/2 second
So yes ~ 1/2 second
However, he asked what he could get in the 1/4 mile and the answer is still ~13.5 or so.
So no... .2-.3 seconds

In that case the average 1/4 time would be 13.8 or so...
