Congrats to you. Its good to hear some positive service stories because the problem stories usually take to the forefront.
My S2 was also built in Jun99. I purchased mine last year from the orginial owner. According to his service records and my experience, I've only had to replace the battery.
With 48,000km its been a dream to own for myself and the prior owner. VIN is 800146, i really dont know where the engine # is.. I'll have to check that out.
I'm due to register mine as well, but I think I'll pre pay for 2 years.

congrats!!!
mine is #195 (or is it 295? - can't remember)
80,000KM and going incredibly strong....very few issues with mine as well.
FWIW, this is the longest i've ever owned a car - i usually get bored pretty quickly - but not with this one!!!
(my friend's think something is wrong with me b/c i've been driving the same car for more than a year )

Hmm, I now have 40000 miles on my car...4th set of rear tires, but still on the original brake pads I believe. According to the tech who checked my brakes (I think I have a warped rotor), I still have prolly 40% left. When is the recommended change time? It's possible they changed those at the 30k service if it was called for. And no I don't take it that easy on my brakes...at least according to my passengers .

You're right Asura - those track days are what contributes to the wear and tear.
There is one particular track I go to which has a 200kmh straight (5th gear) turning right into a tight 80kmh (2nd gear corner) - it chews out pads like they are going out of style. Come to think of it, I may actually be on my 5th set of front pads.
Good to see all the Torontonians weighing in - I spent 4 years living in North York around a decade ago - it's a great city.
