The 02 knob is "cool", as long as you shift with a "OK" grip, instead of palming it.

FYI, pearl-coated Voodoo Knobs also keep the temps down in hot days like this!

I hate it too, but I use the hat thing too. I used to keep a regular short ankle sock over it for a while.. but it looked kinda odd.. Now I just burn my hand and deal with it

The bit of leather covering on the 2002 models does help a bit. I have been told that, in the Outback, some Australians use a quaint leather drawstring pouch as a shift knob cover. The pouch is quite seamless, just the right size and shape, and made of kangaroo leather. The kangaroo leather in question must come from a male kangaroo - one per male kangaroo is all that is possible. Perhaps an Aussie member can verify the truth of this; I don't want to be perpetuating an urban myth.
