Default 4200 rpm at 80 mph?

Seems a bit high for a car with 6-speeds... I drove for about 2 hours today at 80 mph with the engine spinning away... used a half a tank of gas doing this!

Car is a MY04, thanks

2hrs of 80mph = 160 miles for half a tank.

160 x2 for a full tank = 320 miles to the tank.

if you think about it, that is some damn good miles per gallon, cuz my car has never seen close to that on a full tank. it is normal, but it takes some getting used to cruising at 80 at such a relatively high rpm.

Good lord!!! First thing I noticed in my car too!!! Buckle up cause you are in for some more inconveniencies!!! Such as lack of space, high levels of noise, "strange" (to say the least) feedback from the steering wheel, absolute suspension setting (excellent for track use, dubious for road use) etc etc This is one of these cars that you get used to its habbits or you abandon it altogether !!! There is no way it gets acustomed to you or your ususal way of driving so love it or loathe it for what it is for it will not change!!!

The S's fuel cell holds 13.2 US gallons. If you went 320 miles on a tank, you would get 24.2 miles to the gallon. If you account for the gallon or two of gas that is in the tank when you refill, your milage would be 26.5-29 mpg. That is damn good dude!

I'm lucky if I get over 17 mpg the way I drive. My S is not a daily driver. It is used only out in the country.
