I don't beleive it. We hardly ever see any reports on this board of S2000's getting stolen. Broken into yes, but not stolen. The list seems bogus to me, not sure where forbesauto.com get their data. And when was the last time you saw an S2000 in a list of "Luxury Autos" with cars like the Cadillac Escalade? I think the author made a mistake.
I followed the link to Forbesauto.com, the MSRP prices aren't even right. They list the MSRP of the S2000 at $27,500, idiots.

that was for luxury vehicles (30K+) only. There is no way the S2000 gets stolen more than civics, camrys, accords etc. The more common cars like those get stolen not for the high price, but for the plain fact the part are easier to unload due to their commonality. They get stripped and the parts fenced.
Last year five of the top ten most stolen cars in Canada were various models of Civic, historically the top ten list has been mostly various Inteegras. I'll try and find the list. I definitely haven't heard many stories of S2000s getting stolen, but if you go browse any public Civic/Integra board you'll probably find plenty of posts about stolen cars.
Even if it's $30K+ that still surprises me...

Maybe this list is the % of a particular model that is stolen. Most lists seem to be based on the total number of cars stolen. Obviously Accords and such get stolen much more, on absolute basis, because there are so many around. I am going to guess that there are a 4 million Accords on the road. If 40,000 are stolen in a year that would be 1%.
I will also guess that there are 40,000 S2k on the road. 1% of them would be 400 cars.
So if it turned out that 800 S2k were stolen it would be ahead of the Accord on a % basis but it would never get ahead on on an absolute basis because that would mean that all S2k would be stolen.
If anybody has the info on the actual number of these cars on the road it would be interesting (mildly) to redo the numbers
