Based on my experience, the Dunlops have much better treadwear and wet / cold weather traction. They are less expensive as well. Most, but not all, S2000 drivers will not notice any difference in the dry / warm weather traction. The Dunlop tires are the only component of my S2000 that is not stock.

For all you 5 year owners (especially the original poster), how has your reliability been? Any repairs? I've been considering trading in my 2001 IS300 for a 2000-2001-ish S2000. I can deal with the lack of cosmetic changes, but am wondering how the reliability will hold up.

If there's anything I've been disappointed about Honda, it's been their attitude toward warrantee issues. I've owned one Ford, three Chrysler products and one Nissan (actually still called Datsun back then). I never had any problems with warrantee service from Ford or Chrysler. If it was in the original time and mileage limits, it got taken car of. The Datsun never "needed" any warrantee service!

In two Honda motorcycles, a 1993 Goldwing and a 1998 ST1100A, and a 2001 Honda Odyssey, I've been warned about the possibility that Honda might not cover a problem I felt I had. Ultimately, Honda "did" cover the problem so it wasn't an issue. It's just that Honda, more than anyone else I've dealt with, seems to go out of it's way to find excuses for why they won't cover some part.

It's a good thing they make such great cars!

Steve R.

Oh yeah, the soft top. On 00 and 01 cars only I think, there's a plastic piece in the roof mechanism that tends to rub against the top's fabric. Some people have had hols show up. I have wear spots, but thankfully no holes. Something to watch out for on used models.
