Is this a money making scam or do they realy need to perform all these functions.

1. Oil (understandable)
2. inspect front brake pads, calipers, discs & hoses
3. inspect exhaust and steering systems and suspension
mounts
4. inspect wiper blades (yeah i used these abount twice)
5. inspect and rotate tires (my greatest fear is i end up
with the fronts on the back)
6. check/adjust fluid levels
7. road test (oh no this scares me)

can someone give me the real deal because i realy don't want to spend extra money if its not needed. I mean the car
is realy just broken in.

Thanks

Personal opinion, it's a scam and is not needed if you make the checks yourself. They will basically look at the engine, the belts, and tires, check the fluid levels and change the oil. Not having it done does not void the warranty. I do most of my own maintenance and keep a log book to document what I've done, save reciepts, etc.

the idiots from my dealership thought it would a great idea to rotate the tires...as we all know it states specifically in the manual the tires cannot be rotate front to rear or even left to right...so...just becareful...just cause it's honda doesn't mean they know more about this car then you

If you have an extended warranty, you might seriously consider having routine service done by the dealer. That way, they have a record and there is no question that the service was done. As a minimum you might want dealer to do service for 1st 36Kmi.

I had an extended warranty with a 3rd party on a previous car and when I went to make a claim, they raked the dealer over the coals, requesting every single service record. I suspect if I had missed one they would have denied the claim saying it was my fault for not properly maintaining the car.

I'd also demand that they not do the road test, if you bring it in for the service.

Actually, IMO the worst they could do would be to switch the tires from side to side. If you think S-02s suck in the wet, just wait till you try them backwards!

I bet those special tread grooves would pull water in toward the center. I'm going to be very careful to check for this every time the dealer has my car.

I did it myself. Was told by dealer it is not imperative they do it, just as long as you check these items. Most of these things you should be checking on a regular basis anyway.

Do it yourself and you void the WARRANTY! You gonna stamp your manual you did the work yourself? Number 4 cylinder problem. "So you have no record of factory authorized service"? Bend over and kiss your ass good-by! Or pony up a few bucks and let a factory trained mechanic do the work (at least through warranty life). Come on guys this is really basic stuff here!

Sorry, this is just not true. You lose no warranty rights by doing it yourself.
