80mph drunk through school zone!
Well you know what they say about opinions?
I don't condone the actions, I think racing, driving at break neck speeds etc. is foolish. But if I thought one word of what I say here would deter someone form hurting themselves or others I would post everyday. But I'm willing to bet that me saying Don't race, Don't speed isn't going to change even one persons mind. So rather then trying to say that my views are better then others I just chime in when I have a thought. Right or wrong. I may have defended Scot in his post, and Likewise had some derogatory words for Marco in a previous post. Marco E-mailed me, and he's a straight up guy. Inviting me to meet him In Vegas on my trip. While I may disagree with the actions of some people, I'm not about to jump on a bandwagon. I can't count the number of times I've done things that would earn me the title of "Mentally Challenged" I just don't brag about it, I'm not proud of my past mistakes, but who am I to try and tell people ( some older then me ) to do it my way?

Having been guilty of many stupid stunts in the past... I have been trying to come up with a post that would not sound like preaching...
a short story... in 87' while comeing home from a particular great day racing my sailboat... I had a problem with the trailer @ 45-50mph on the bridge in Sachse (hwy 78), it(was) is a 2 lane bridge without a median. The trailer caused me to veer slightly and while looking in the mirror down the lenght of the trailer... I veered further into the left lane, my nephew screamed in time for me to wrench the car back into the rh lane... of course the boat did what boats on trailers do... it jack-knifed and immediately became a 22 ft obstruction in the lane of the approaching traffic. the 1st car to hit it was a young girl in a mustang... she had her seatbelt on and survived the trip through and under my 2500 pound sailboat, her car ended up totaled with pieces of my boat trailer attached to her car... remember this was only 50mph tops. The next 3 cars to hit it also survived and only had their vehicles totaled... the carnage seemed to happen in slow motion around me, I even believed I had safely slowed the car and pulled it over to the rh side of the lane... until I saw it was now missing a rear end. Ok, so may a not so short story... the girl in the mustang was also going 50 or less, she had no chance and no place to go when things went badly for my boat, I actually was proud of myself at 1st for reacting so quickly to avoid a headon collision... up until I realized had I been careful, it would not have happened! While this bridge is narrower than the bridge in question... the point is things happen, and anything can happen when you least expect it. If you decide to do something darwin like... try not to take out inocent members of the gene pool. Of course I could have just said... "Take it to the track"!

I think that we are all missing the point somehow here. The original post of ' I did 161mph ' is purely fictious and should be treated a somebodys fantasy.
I base this on the fact that the car max speed is 150mph according to Honda, bear in mind the Honda engineers would of floored the crap out of the car.
The other point is if you read the brouchure you will also be aware that the speedo only goes to 156mph, so how can he say he was going 161mph?????
As I said a purley fictious piece of work, I do not see the point in making things up, but there will always be people out there that need to.
Not trying to be a smart arse here but that the facts, so do not let somebody elses ramblings bother you.

Anthony, various people have had their speedometer higher than 156, and even have pictures to prove it. If you believe so strictly in those brochures, you're naive.
As for the topic of this post...what exactly constitutes danger? It's far too gray of a topic to give a definitive answer. Is it based on what the speed limit says? If so, then just a few years back nothing was dangerous in Montana. Talking on a cell while driving can be considered dangerous, but does everyone condemn those people? Not quite. As someone else posted in Scot's thread, what's more dangerous...a speeding car, or an outdated car with poor safety features? According to what y2ks2k said, even 55 mph is extremely dangerous. Everyone has their own sense of morals, and what you consider to be dangerous, others might not.

I doubt that any opinion posts here will change anyone else's opinion. I would also bet that many "cheerleading" posts are no more than innocent comments made without the deep thinking that has followed.
I know I will never get my S above 100 - 90 MPH on the interstate was plenty - I got back down to 80 real quick. I am not a professional driver and I don't think this car was designed for very high speeds, but that's my opinion.
One of the great parts of a forum like this is to read other's opinions. I really enjoy it, even if I sometimes think they're wrong, but I don't like preaching and it seems to me like we've crossed the line here.
My 2 cents...

Its all relative. Speed alone is not dangerous. Its stopping that is dangerous, and anything that causes you to stop prematurely.
That is why I never drive over 85 with other traffic around. While its not dangerous to go fast, its sure as hell that some idiot will unsafely pull out without checking his rearview mirror.
Also, its difficult to see foreign objects in the road with other cars around...and foreign objects are the enemy. Rain or poor visibility conditions should also be considered the enemy.
It certainly demonstrates poor judgement to drive 160 over a bridge with traffic around, but not inherantly immoral. I don't think people should be preaching about it because the individual is responsible for their own actions. So if it resulted in a death it would be vehicular homicide. If it resulted in a speeding ticket it would be automatic revocation of their license. However, Death can result from any speed.
All other variables under control, speed is fun. I agree the track is the best place for it- but if you give me an empty stretch of freeway I would probably open up the throttle for a while...but never with traffic around.
