i was actually about to make custom fitting Carbon fiber luggage to maximize the amount of space in the trunk (standard luggage always has those "open" wasted spaces

Also most of the hotel/motels I stayed at had some sort of laundry service availble but I mostly did laundry at some of my friends and family I crashed at. If anything, I felt like a packed too much clothing.
At two points of the trip I shipped some of my unneeded items (purchased books, etc.) home ahead of me. Anything to keep the bulk down. Of course, there was also an empty passenger seat where I stored things I needed at hand.
Next time, I'll go even lighter.

Whaddaya hate cops or something? It's not like he had to be anywhere. He probably really was speeding anyway.
Everyone who stopped me was very nice. We're talking small town, rural officers here. Most seemed to know what my car was (once I wasn't moving), even if they may not have seen one in real life.
I also think my (true) sob story of why I was on the trip in the first place softened them up a bit: "I'd have my wife with me now, but she died of ovarian cancer about two months ago... so I'm just driving and crying. The good thing about a convertible is that dries the tears as you go." etc.
Cheesy, I know. But I've got nothing to hide.
By the way, I never speed in town. And only let loose in the middle of nowhere. With the possibility of running into deer or other, larger animals a very real threat, I kept it cool in areas where I couldn't see for miles around me. I also tried to minimize driving at night because of that.
I was also driving for distance, not land speed record. So at a certain point it's just silly to drive insanely fast... especially if the goal is to return home alive to your children.
