Default $9000 to spend on s2k

I am looking to purchase an 2002 s2000 with around 60-70000 miles. Is my budget realistic? I have been looking around and see some cars for example 2002 s2k with 125000 miles sell for $10,000? so i am not sure if I am realistic with my budget. Any input will be nice. I live in Central jersey if that helps.

You will need a few more grand. Get around 12k and that should be realistic.

I paid 13.5k for my 04 with 83100 miles so you might be able to but it will take some time to find one.

$9k will buy you a '00 with 100k+ mileage. you better get at least $12-$14k to find an '02 with that mileage.

You can find one for 9k, but expect to drop some money to fix it up. Might as well save up 12k and buy yourself one in better condition.

I just bought my 2001 with 53k miles for 12k, so yea look for something between 12-14k.

Edit: Actually bought it for 14.5k with Hardtop.

$10K is realistic if you wait until December and buy from a private seller who just needs to drop the car fast.

There is one listed on Craigslist (nyc) with 215k, I think they want around $7500

Paid 8K for a 2001 last year with 90k, clear title. Already put 10k miles on it. consistently fixing here and there, but I have no regrets. [soft top, clutch master cylinder, diff mounts. CEL from bad injectors]. I enjoyed the car for a whole year

I paid it off at that time, and have invested more than $2000 on the car last year.
DIY repairs will save u some money

IMO, 14k is too much for an AP1. With 15K you should be able to get a 04/05 AP2
