Default 95% octane in honda s2000?

Is it ok to drive an 95% petrol octane in s2000 ??? I know this car should drive on 98%RON, but planing on getting s2000 and here where i live they do not sell 98ron anymore
Will 95 damage the engine?, if it will,what should i do??? will i have to change the settings of the computer in the car for 95%???
thanks.

I assume that is the way a different country measures octane but s2000 runs on 91 octane. 87 is acceptable ( I have a buddy that runs it) but the car will not run as well and personally I wouldnt do it.

I'd reserve the use of lower than recommend octane for emergencies only.

The ECU expects 91. It will retard timing when detonation is detected but will then advance until detonation is again detected.

You never hear the detonation but it is, never the less, occurring and will continue to occur until parameters (correct octane levels) change.

Detonation isn't a good thing in any amount.

What are the long term effects? Should you be worried?

I'm not willing to experiment on my car...

I believe 95% ron = 91 octane US. So you should be just fine.

I think this is correct. According to an Audi forum:

USA (AKI/PON) --- Europe (RON)

87 = 91
89 = 93
91 = 95
93 = 98

I live in south Ireland ( no 98 ron anymore Here )
Can I get Octane in bottles that I can mix with 95ron to give me 98 or more?
I know that I can mix rally fuel with normal to get extra octanes and gives a lot of kick we have tryed it In my dads old Gti 5 and there was a lot of a difference but it is to expensive and we did not know how many octanes are burning under the hood.

Will the engine have any problems running 95ron? will it damage the engine ? if yes what do you guys do in Ireland to bring up to 98ron?

I think per the translation above that you're fine with the lower RON rated petrol - the engine will be fine.

Also, we have a local forum for your area you can post in about this - https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/forum/25-...000-community/

South Africa only has 95 RON max and all the S2000s run on it no problems, as stated earlier 95 = 91 US, so no need to worry, get one!!!

What about in the US? Is it ok to run higher than US 93 octane unleaded fuel in the S?

I know some tracks carry close to 100 octane unleaded, will this do damage under track conditions or cause
the car to throw CEL's?
