I guess it's luck (bad) that I won't ever get this car! I checked out on our webpage news and looks like I won't be getting a raise for ANOTHER 3 months on top of the 3 month delay(because we missed the *cough* deadline because of my boss) on top of the 3 month job scoping....So, that'll make almost a full year of working in this job for ALOT less than I should rightfully be making...but I love this job!
maybe I oughtta just ask someone out there.
"May I have your s2000?" I want it (the car of course) really really really really bad!
Maybe they'll loan the car to me, maybe I'll lease...sheesh! I'm starting to get this flustered and I haven't even ordered the car yet!
So, anyone looking for a good web developer?
I'm sorry that this might not fit in here...I just had to share my story of misfortune with my brethren in this group...

 

Sorry to hear that. you outta try and work for a company like mine. for instance, I get raises all the time, yet I do nothing to deserve them. I'm not sure what I do anymore, I come in when I want and do my own thing. One day I'll actually have a web project that I'll be working on for them.

Today, it really ticked me off - well, in a strange way. White boxes are being given out a few at a time each day by day. Some 35 people were given them on Friday, another 3 or 4 today. And current employees have a pool on who will be fired next. Why am I ticked? I wasn't even on the pool! They don't think I'm gonna get fired! Sheesh! Why can't they just let me, Mr. Deadweight, go? I dunno. I'm sure once I get back into the game, I'll be fine, like you - and deservingly ask for another raise. But for now, I'm doing alright. Just no motivation.

My suggestion, get some offers here and there just for the sake of doing it. If something floats your boat, go for it, or bid with your current supers. Never know what they will counter to keep you there - that is, if you feel you are deserving of such.

However, with this tactic, its what's driving the cost of living through the roof in Austin. ce la vie.

 

if the question is "where should i get a job in technology?", the answer is "Inforte". you just wouldn't know it by looking at our stock price. le sigh.

I wouldn't get a raise if I asked for it because a company web "newsletter" came down saying that "in order to make our shareholders happy and decrease expenses in order to give better returns to the shareholders, there will be NO pay raises for anyone for the next 3 months (on top of all of my waiting).
Sigh...So, can I have a job? or your car? j/k

Hey man... don't complain too much. I do web development too, and we've all just been handed down 12%-15% decreases in pay because of the shape of the market. It was either that or start laying off people. The management decided to cut pay and try to keep as many people on as possible, especially this time of year.

I'm not complaining at all, just thought that while you're worried about not getting your raise for another three months, a lot of people in the same business sector are getting handed their pink-slips along with their christmas bonuses.

 

Now that I've had a night to cool down a little, I just wanted to say thanks guys!

This isn't a fact of just a raise or paycut...
I'm getting a janitor's wage doing webwork...they've been promising us the "proper salary for the industry" since last June...
Oh well, I love my job! what can I say?
