About To Buy An S2000, Need Help!!!
I tried to make the "right" decision by buying the VW, I thought it was practical, and was trying to make a good decision, BUT, I'm now realizing that I'm just not relatively happy with the car, don't get me wrong it's nice, but still not an S. Your right though, waiting would be the right thing to do, but you know how it is.

Should I walk on the deal or should I try to get him to lower the price a little?

This price is way too much. Take your time and you will do much better. Don't get in a hurry, the salesmen WILL take advantage of you.

I would put my best poker face on and ask the dealer for his best price and then walk out the door after he tells you what it is. He may decide that he's losing the ONLY interested customer that he's had. It isn't easy to sell convertibles in the winter.

Keep in mind that he is in South Carolina and the winter isn't near as bad as here in Ohio or Indiana.

BTW This time of year you should be able to pick up a new S for like $500 over invoice.
Maybe you should think about a lease with the option to buy in the end. That way you get a new car with a new warranty, but its still affordable to you. (What do you guys think about that?)
You should hook up with someone on the board to go with you to "look" at the car again, someone that can tell you right away if its even worth close to whats they're asking. (I doubt it..but) doesn't hurt to get a second opinion from someone who knows a little bit about owning an S2K.
ok I'll stop now.....

You guys have been very helpful, I'm so impatient, I just dont want to make the wrong decision. That car is not worth any more than 23,000, No, our winters in South Carolina aren't very harsh at all, you could drive your S all year round if you really wanted to! Well I guess I'll grit my teeth and go in there and talk business.
Sounds like a bad deal to me.
Here in CA, some dealers have advertised new MY2003 for around $30K. You're definitely better off ponying up a couple grand for a new S2K. The rear glass window alone is worth it!
The truth of the matter is that the market for the S2K has softened tremendously, but some dealers refuse to believe it.
Be patient and look for a better deal. Good luck.

You should take a look in your regional forum and post a thread there. The members there know your market very well and can offer you advice.
You'd be surprised how helpful fellow members can be!
