Has anyone else noticed that replacing the fuel filter is not mentioned in the scheduled maintenance for the S2K?

Neither is replacing the timing chain/belt, not sure which it is, but it's also not mentioned, any thoughts anybody?

i also noticed that instead of 14mm, they stated that the strut tower nuts were 10 x 1.25mm.

Have to believe the fuel filter is only replaced if contaminated.

There is a timing chain that should not need replacement.

According to the service manual:

The fuel filter should be replaced whenever the fuel pressure drops below the specified value (320-370 kPa, 3.3-3.8 kgf/cm2, 47-54 psi with the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose disconnected and pinched) after making sure that the fuel pump and the fuel pressure regulator are OK.

Hope that helps.

The S2K doesn't have the 60,000 mile timing belt replacement requirement ? The belt/chain NEVER needs replacement ? Is it a non-interference engine? Meaning nothing with be damaged if the belt/chain breaks while in operation?

As cdelena points out, the S2K has a timing chain, not belt, so apparently we don't need to worry about it. In my experience, timing chains stretch but do not break, but this knowledge was drawn from our mid-80's Chrysler K-wagon which had notorious timing-chain stretching problems, hopefully nothing with the S2K is comparable.

No promises about the results of a broken timing chain, but if you read the Service Manual (6-15 to 6-24 plus the cylinder head removal section), this thing was not designed for easy (read: low cost) replacement.

Hopefully that means the challenges associated with BELTS is reduced significantly.

It will be damaged if the chain breaks, but chains don't break easily and it is not an expected event. There is no need for periodic replacement.

Has anyone found any arrows pointing to the jacking points, which the manual says are molded into the underside of the body? (They obviously ran short of arrows by the time they got around to buiding mine.)
