Nothing "abusive" about this at all. The car is more than capable of sitting around 7-8k rpm for a bit doing a burnout on shitty tires. One session on track or one crappy auto-x launch to go drive around some cones is much more abusive than one burnout, it's also a really interesting video.

^LOL

I did a 45 second long burnout right after buying mine. Its still fine 10-11 years later.

Too many people are too careful.

"you wouldn't catch ME doing a burnout in my sports car", is the statement some are making.

The main reason I wouldn't do one in my car is I just don't trust the rear differential. It's not because I'm a prude. Except for doing burnouts leaving car shows, I do scoff at those.

Secretly secretly inside I kind of like those too.

OK, as I've been looking at doing a burnout over the last few hours...

Myself and my mate are keen photographers, and my rear tyres are about at the end of their life.

I was thinking on the last day, calling in a burnout.

I was thinking 2 puddles of water under the rear wheels, with a tiny splash of oil.

I know the damage that can be done, but as a one off (I don't dump my clutch), does this sound feasable or to be completely avoided?

I really can't stand burn outs. The stench of burning rubber is and acrid smoke is annoying enough. Not to mention the abuse to the driveline and tires. Honestly, what's the point? Maybe that's why I'm ok with my low torque car..lol.

He is clearly not revving that high to be on the rev limiter, nor is it rapid enough. But rather modulating with his foot around 7500rpm. He is actually being pretty gentle in that regard, varying engine load/speed.

Same reason that lots of other pointless stuff is fun! Its...just...fun. Hard to explain. lol. I'm usually a logical person. But a good burnout beats a lot of things.

Its not really that fun if you overthink it, M8.

Rev it high enough to break traction right away.

dump the clutch...but not completely side step it. Load up the drivetrain hard enough.

This avoids wheel hop.

STOP if it starts to wheel hop.

Bollacks to using oil.

If you want to launch an ap1 hard or do a burnout, it takes a bit of commitment. Sticky extreme summers on warm clean tar will provide plenty of grip.

Imo a hard 1/4 mile launch is more stress on the drivetrain than a burnout. I leave the line at 7500 or so and feed the clutch fast. This puts more pressure on the clutch and more load on the drive train longer. For a burnout. Rev up to 8500+ and snap the clutch up. Breaking the tires loose spares the drivetrain from extra load.

For fun I prefer donuts in the s2k than straight burn outs. The mustang was great for leaving "11s"
