In step #4... which is the panel setting?

In step #5... do we really start the car?

Andre
Panel setting is dash vents only.

I believe just turning the key to on without starting the car works.

Its not a defect...just a function built into the car.
Running the AC de-humidifies the air that comes into the cabin, which helps the defrosting process.

Try this,

To deactivate automatic a/c feature on 2002 CR-V:

1) Turn vehicle off.
2) Turn fan knob off.
3) Turn temperature knob all the way to the left (blue area).
4) Turn vent knob to panel only setting (next to max a/c).
5) Hold down both air recirculation button and a/c button while starting car.
6) Continue holding for 7 seconds until air recirculation button stops flashing.

To reactivate automatic a/c feature on 2002 CR-V:

1) Turn vehicle off.
2) Turn fan knob off.
3) Turn temperature knob all the way to the left (blue area).
4) Turn vent knob all the way to the right (defrost position).
5) Hold down both air recirculation button and a/c button while starting car.
6) Continue holding for 7 seconds until air recirculation button stops flashing.
7) After the 7 seconds described in step 6, the recirculation button will start to flash. Continue to hold the button for another 7 seconds. After this, the a/c light will turn to green and it's finished!

Although this write up is based on a Honda CRV it also works for the S2000. I've done it twice so far. If you in any case dis-connect your battery terminal, you'll have to go through the process again.

if this doesn't work, try left, left, up, down, start

Up down left right, hold down A and press Start.

I want a Game Genie for my S2000.

u have a good point about it taking longer to defrost, but I think it's worth it in light of the extra load the AC puts on the motor.
You must live in a drier climate. In Houston you need the AC to defog (especially when it rains).

Worked like a charm on my 03. Couple of notes:

AC still comes on when I rotate the knob to defrost but I can turn it off now.

Be sure to hold down the recird and ac buttons long enough. On mine, the recirc button started flashing after about four seconds and I thought I was done. But I couldn't control the AC in defrost. Did the procedure again holding the buttons down for the full seven seconds. The recirc button flashes for a few seconds, then the AC button illuminates and the recirc button stops flashing. After that everything worked fine. (I also had to turn off the fan...it was on the first time so that may have been the problem.)
