aaaarrrrrrrggggggggghhhhghghhghghhhhhh........

I got my first ding today. haven't even had the car for two weeks. opened the drivers door right into a post, immediately after thinking, "gee, that post is close, I'll have to be careful opening the door. The first detent should be okay, tho."

What do I do? I swing the door wide like always, smacking square into the post.

I now have a line dent in the curve of the driver side door about 5-6 inches below the accent line. I could really use the name of a good body shop in Dallas.

BTW, the car is black, but I've heard that Honda's black can be a real pain to match, if there's any truth to this rumor, I'd like to know.

Additionally, I've got the 1-2 grind now. It's annoying, and I'd like to get it fixed, but the car's only got 1300+ miles on it, and I don't know if I can get it fixed as warranty (due to some of the horror stories I've heard here about dealers not honoring the warranty, blowing off customer's issues as abuse, etc.). If there's a good dealer service center that anyone in the D/FW area has dealt with, I'd like to know that as well...

Other than that, I've been enjoying this car more than any I've ever owned!

Thanks in advance!

If the paint isn't damaged you can get that paintless dent repair done (PDR). Takes a few minutes and you can watch them to make sure they do it right.

If you need painting the best trick I've learned is to get the OEM touch up and take it to the shop. If they make up the paint have them put theirs next to the OEM on a piece of paper to compare.

Hope this helps

lucid is right about PDR. Depending on the dent, they can often work wonders. I had one on done on my wife's Accord and it came out perfectly. The guy even used a bright light to shine down the side of the car to ensure that the original smooth finish was restored. My guy is in N. Richland hills, but I'm sure some of our Dallas members have experience with a good source.

I used dent wizard yesterday. $125 and gone, as long as there is no damage to the paint.

Take everyones advice- if there is no paint damage, use Dent Wizard. I've been there twice. Both times the results have been perfect.

Agreed - dent wizard works quite well, but don't get your hopes up too high before you see them. The guy I spoke to told me that he turns away 80% of the people that come in. I guess some of them have dents that are just too large or already have paint flaking. From what he told me, he can't fix dents that are close the the edges of the panel or that have welding seams behind them.

On the good side, I did take my previous car there without an appointment and had my car de-dented before lunch was over (and $100 less in my bank account).

Unfortunately, I'm in the process of getting some body work done on my black/black (I had a little off-road excursion at my last autocross, and took out a landing light) and it IS a PITA to match the paint. We're on week two as we speak...

Hopefully, you won't have to go the painting route though.

Hello Elviscos: Did you use the Dent Wizard at Huntington? On their website, Huntington store is listed as a retailer. Wonder if there is any difference in service.

Just got the ding taken out by Dent Wizard, the wizard himself. I am quite impressed. The guy worked with some tools that looked liked reinforced coat hangers. The guy did not have to take off any panels, but I noticed they do that for certain dings It was done in less than 15 mins. Paid $125. The ding was barely visible before the procedure, but it's totally gone after the procedure. Here in NY they would go to a dealership to do a car if you leave the car with the dealer for a day. I did not want to wait to see the result, so I drove to Huntington, NY. There were a bunch of cars lined up on the side of the road while a couple of Dent Wizard guys worked on them. Of course all the car owners come to check out the S2000.

Just got back from dent wizard as well. $125 looks to be the going rate. He did let me watch and the results were better than expected.
It was like new.
It seems like your results are determined by where the dent is in relation to bracing and such. A jag that was there before me had a dent he could not get to. That one stayed but he straighted out some nasty ones that he could get to.
