Default Add-ons upgrade

When adding an intake and a single exhaust to an '05 S2K, is there something I'm suppose to do to let the ECU accept the better flow? When I first put the exhaust in it felt 'loose" and slower than stock. After about 2 days of normal driving, I've felt the car picking up the power back. Is the ECU reprograming itself?
I heard that on some nissan's you had to let the car idle for 5 min, rev it 3 times and let it idle another 5 min before giving it 3 more revs. Does this sound good and does it really update the ECU to its new airflow? Please help with suggestions! I looked around in this forum but I didn't find anything. Maybe I didn't look enough. I've also changed the oil to a synthetic (Royal Purple) and I also bought the 'Tornado' intake charger (dont make fun on me on this) and I have a test pipe instead of a cat.
Thanks!

Royal Purple is junk compared to whats available for similar and lower prices.

Take your "Tornado" off, its a gimic and does nothing but provide added restriction in your intake.

Never a bad idea to reset your ECU after putting on a new mod simply by disconnecting the negative battery cable while performing the work.

I don't think I'd call Royal Purple junk man. For the last two oil changes my car went from 1/2 a quart per 1000 miles burned to 1/2 a quart in just over 3000.

I don't know where you're buying yours, but it cost me the same as mobile 1 and most of the other name brands. I'll take 1/2 a quart in 3000 over 1/2 in 1000. Thanks though.

As to the original poster, what your feeling is most likely a placebo effect. Most exhausts for the s2k don't do much beside make it louder. You might get 5whp, and your butt dyno isn't going to know the difference. Its louder, therefore people think its faster.

More than likely your "turbonator" is causing a restriction in airflow bogging your car down. Get that garbage out of there sigh.

get the tornado OUT!!!!

hondas have an 'idle learn-in procedure,' just:

disconnect the battery.
wait 1 minute
reconnect the battery.
turn key to ACC, turn off all accessories (a/c, fan, defrost, lights)
start the car
let idle for 7 minutes. ECU is programmed. your ready.

Hey r duff, thats all you do to re-program/reset the ECU? Cuz I plan on getting a custom single exhaust and wanna know how to reset my ECU just to be safe. I just dont know if I should get a 2.5, 2.75 or 3 inch piping single exhaust with a test pipe with my Apexi N1 muffler. What you all think?

I use Royal Purple in all my vehicles. The performance and longevity of RP is better than mobil 1. I gained 1.5 MPG increase in my jeep and minivan. I gained 1 mpg in my diesel pusher motorhome. That is a 10% increase based in my prior 10 mpg. If you have not tried it let me know and I will send you 6 qts and if you don't see the difference I will pay for it!!!

I get it at cost from work which WAY WAY less than retail.

Royal purple is absolutely crap for what they charge you for it. There are FAR better oils than royal purple for that kind of money.

Again, doesn't cost me any more than mobile 1. Actually I think it costs me less.

How did you measure this 1.5mpg increase? Did you drive the car the exact same way on the exact same roads, with the exact same acceleration, and the exact same hill grade, and the exact same temperature, and the exact same humidity, with the exact same wind speed and heading, etc? No? When measuring something that is such a small gain, you have to be quite specific and scientific about it, otherwise the results are simply not trustworthy.

Also, royal purple performs quite poorly compared to Mobil 1, so I am unsure where you're getting your info from Osky.

Please read our oil journals for more info. Or, more specifically, this post:

The tests and UOA's I have seen for Royal Purple have never shown it to be other than mid-tier
