Hi,
Just received Comptechs coilovers with collars and wondering....since they are adjustable up to 2.5" (i think), whats a good baseline to start out with? Using stock wheels for now. Has anyone installed these and had to adjust after the fact? Are they tough to adjust?
Thanks for any input....Barry

Personally I think more than an inch would be excessive, and I think its been said that over 1.5" rear screws with the alignment.

I'm considering springs that lower the car about 1 inch front and rear, any more might be too much on our poor roads i think, and i personally also don't like that scrape-the-floor look. I plan to keep the stock wheels and tires. Can someone who has done similar lowering say what needs to be done afterwards - i would guess the front must be readjusted, but how about the rear? Can a regular Honda shop do this or should i find some kind of specialist?

If you go to the Comptech website they have a diagram of how to setup the coilover for I believe a 1" drop. Go to the installation section of their site. I had my car very low initially and just raised it up on friday. It was a piece of cake if you have a lift. Basically to adjust them all you need to do is get the weight off the wheels then rotate the collar. Oh yea you need to remove the allen screw that secures it in place. They are very easy to adjust once they are on.

Bassman, if you have a good performance shop with an alignment rack that is what you want. Once you lower your car you will need to have it aligned.

I lowered mine an inch f/r and wouldn't go anymore. I'm actually thinking of putting 1/4" back in. Some have gone as low as 2" but for me that would make the car nearly undrivable.

As I have said before, for car shows mine gets slammed. That is the point of adjustable suspension, right the freedom to adjust!

Anyway, here is a picture of my car slammed before a show at 2.5" drop.

Typically I go with 1 1/4 1 1/2 at different ends front and back!
