Advice for Nelly
It seems a user named Nelly is in a quandry over keeping his 2000 MR2 Spyder or upgrading to a Honda S2000.

Since someone asked me to put in my 2 cents, I'd tell him to get the S2000, but to buy, not to lease in his situation. Also, if he simply finds a buyer for his MR2 Spyder he can easily get out of his lease. Although I don't see anyone on the SpyderChat board offering to buy his car or help him sell it.
He should buy what makes him happy and not be driving a car that leaves him feeling like he always needs "just a little more". If that's an S2000 great, if that is something, hey great as well.
Sorry you had to get bashed over there Nelly when simply asking some straightforward questions. It's not unusual to see forum users type before thinking.
Hope that helps... Best of luck with whatever you buy.

Tell me about it. I mean come on, I used to own one, I know all about them, and I certainly admit they have shortcomings. Do I think they are a great "value"? Absolutely. Do I think they are a hardcore muscle car sports machine? No Way. It just gets really old really fast when the first thing out of an MR2 owner's mouth is "Well if I do "x" to my car it will be better than yours..." Well possibly, but you shouldn't have to. I mean really, I could strap a Saturn V rocket to a station wagon but it's still a station wagon. There was a thread on there recently about how the Spyder was better than a Lambourghini Countach. Yeah, whatever. I understand being passionate about your car, I know I am about all of mine. But there is a big difference between being passionate and being unreasonably defensive and I would concur with your assessment that on SpyderChat.Com the defensiveness runs almost to paranoia.
People should be happy with what they bought and not feel the need to jump to the defense of their car all the time. Someone cuts down my car, well I just shrug it off and think "yeah whatever" and go on enjoying my car.

Hey Ken,
Just wondering what your website is since I can't see the list of cars that you own. I know you have a Porsche (which is very nice, by the way) , but I didn't know you owned a Spyder.

I think its in my cars section of my site, just try http://www.smiley.net/boxsters.htm and remove parts of the URL from there. I used to run www.spyderweb.net but not anymore I gave it away to someone else to manage, it's still the largest MR2 Spyder website out there, lot's of good info on the car. Spending more time with Porches and Ferraris these days, and I still miss my old Beemer, great car...
[UPDATE] hahahahaha now they are complaining over on SpyderChat.Com that SpyderWeb.Net isn't the largest MR2 Spyder site on the web. Just to be CLEAR for those who don't know how to measure, SpyderChat.Com is the largest MESSAGE base regarding the MR2 Spyder, (in terms of total messages) but SpyderWeb.Net is the largest source of pictures, articles, videos, aftermarket parts, general information, etc. for the MR2 Spyder, it is also the 2nd largest message base. It seems that not only are they defensive about their cars, but also overly sensitive about their websites, could be that they are feeling deficient on both accounts.
Heck, as I said, I don't even manage SpyderWeb.Net anymore, someone else does but that doesn't seem to stop MR2 owners on SpyderChat.Com from denegrating other sites, or other cars for that matter.
I still think its funny that they thought Nelly was me!
Nelly, buy something else, FAST!
