advice - to sell s2k?
I have an '01 S2k. 12,400 miles, white, great shape, no abuse. I'm in NC. I recently bought a '97 C4S, and don't really need the s2k any more, though do like having a soft top around.
I am in no hurry to sell it, and have waffled on the subject for some time. If I were to sell it, what is a reasonable and fair price? I have no interest in attempting to gouge anyone, but at the same time believe there is a fair price for such a car, just not sure what it is... If I ask too low, then I get screwed, if the ask is too high, then noone takes it seriously. So, what is fair?
Appreciate any serious input, thanks.

Suggest you take a look at Ebay and yahoo classifieds, you can gauge the market there.
This is NOT the best time to sell your S2000 however, the market is very depressed, even for new cars with low APR financing.
If you are not in any hurry to sell, I would sit for a while....
take care

probably the worst used car market for as long as i can remember... primarily because of the low interest rates. but that might not change for awhile.
if you love the car and have a place for it, keep it- if not, sell it for what you can get for it. i think it is better to ask a bit on the high side than the low side, but it depends on how quickly you want to sell. you can always lower the price later- but once its sold, you cant raise it!!

I wouldn't think of it as, "you get screwed," if you sell for a low price. One man's loss is another man's gain
. You enjoyed the car didn't you? It was worth every bit of the money you paid for it, right?

I can give ya $19,998 for it. That's what my current car loan is for and can't stretch much more than that.
Good luck selling your car. If you have a place to keep it and don't really mind paying the car payment, I don't see why you should get rid of it.

thanks for the responses. I've looked at aurotrader and cars.com and the prices there are all so high. I have put an ad out there for what I think is too much, but it is the lowest of any '01 with low miles, etc. I don't want my ad to be way below everyone else's ask. EBAY is a little different. You often don't actually know the final price, and the cars, I think, often have more.... baggage. Believe me, I've looked at alot there! IT's probably best, in general, to find a car nut and buy it privately from that person. Just my .02.
I don't think the economy is going to get better anytime soon, with Dubya around, tax cuts, war with Iraq and now N. Korea a possibility ("the military option is not ruled out"), etc, etc.
I don't owe anything on the car, so the payment's not the issue. It's just I don't really need it. Mentally or physically!
19998 won't quite do it! But I do appreciate the "offer."
Again, thanks.
