Can anyone give me some advise on where and how to place the 100% white cotton towel in the well?

How did you guys get it to sit on the side of the well?

Do I place it on the rear or front side or both?

Thanks for the help.

I have been too cheap to buy the Muz mat and have been using a towel. I may eventually break down and buy a Muz mat when it warms up more and I put the top down more.

As far as I know, you don't need to cover the sides of the well, just the bottom. I have a towel in the bottom, held in place with velcro tabs - the kind that come with adhesive on one side and velcro on the other.

Two words of warning:
* the towel should only cover the flat area between the two depressions on either side; part of the metal frame of the top folds into these depressions and the top will not go down all the way if something gets in there.
* always look to make sure the towel is laying flat before you put the top down. I have found that spirited driving (with the top up) can make the corners of the towel fold over

How did you get down there?

Did you have to remove the seats?

Did you cut the towel just the right size or did you just fold a regular size towel to fit?

Removing things is not necessary. Just place the towel where the window would rest. You are just trying to keep the window from rubbing on that plastic.

Close the top up to the 1/2 way point and place the towel under the window. Don't forget to place another rolled up towel on the outside of the window too.

At this point, both sides of the window should only be touching the towels...

Two words: Muz mat. It fits the top well perfectly and is well worth the money. Check out the group buy area for the best deal.

On the outside use a terrycloth towel. Lay it flat across the window and tuck it under the top where it overlaps the window on the top and either side. It will be held in place by the top when you lower same, preventing scratches and minimizing creases, which are temporary at best.

The site that william posted is the one I used. I got the flanned from the local rag shop and cut it to the dimensions mentioned. I folded over each edge and used my wifes sowing machine to make it nice and neat.

I also purchased from the rag shop velcro that can be sowed on one side and has sticky adhesive on the other.

If you follow the directions and make the size correct, it fits in the well perfectly. I put six velcro tabs on, one on each corner and one top and bottom middle. Then I laid the flannel flat (don't remove the adhesive backing yet) so that it was where I wanted it (again, as was stated before, make sure it is between the rasied ridges). Then holding it in place, remove one corner adhesive backing and lay it in place. Do the same with the other corners, pulling the flannel tight to that there are no wrinkles. Yes it is a tight squeeze to get in there, but you can do it if you are careful and patient.

And also, don't forget the rolled up piece in the outside of the window to protect that side as well.

My thanks to the author of that design. It really worked extremely well and I didn't have to do any measuring at all!

I played with the towel, what a pain. Just ordered Muz Mat in Group Buy, last I heard there was only one more spot to fill the buy - better hurry.

I do not want the hassels with towel, I want to enjoy the car. After awhile of playing the game you will see why.

Thanks for the good advice.

I'd love to get a Muz Mat but I'm in Canada and can't get in the group buy.

Any others from toronto who would like to get into a buy??

But I'll try out the towel and fabric this weekend. I've had the car three weeks and I'm dying to feel the S2000 with the top down.
