AEM cold air intake installed...but have a problem
I just had an AEM CAI installed on a 2001 S2000 that I got two weeks ago. After it was put in my check engine light came on with the error code 0411 which I was told was something like "incorrect secondary air flow"
The guy that put it in hadn't done an S2000 before but owns a custom import garage and has done many AEM CAI's and the job he did appears to be very professional. Anyone else have a problem with check engine coming on after getting an AEM CAI installed or any other CAI for that matter, and what was the outcome?
I appreciate any input I can get....I love this car.
Regards,
Shane Sinnott

If it's installed correctly, you will not get a CEL. One of the hoses that connects to the intake has a little white valve on it. It's a one-way valve, perhaps the installer put it back on backwards.

I just redid some of my hoses today, so let me see if I can do this from memory...
Two metal tubes near the fuel rail, one above the other. Top tube goes to white checkvalve (small end). White checkvalve (large end) to passenger side of airtank. Driver side of airtank to outside tube on black air solenoid. Inside tube of black air solenoid to bottom metal tube near fuel rail.
I think that should do it....you may have to reset your CEL and run for a few minutes to see if that's correct.

And what benefit did adding this provide?
Seriously, I'd appreciate some subjective and qualitative input for my next mod:
better sounding rev/engine noise?
louder rev/engine noise?
higher hp? (how much?)
THANKS TO n-e of you that respond!

After getting it installed the car sounds a lot better. It is difficult for me to measure if it is actually faster, but my main reason for doing it was to get more efficient air flow and to make my car sound meaner/faster, which I believe I have accomplished.
I am happy with the modification.
Thanks for the help with the CEL, I believe incorrect hose attached was the problem. I just had some hoses switched 5 minutes ago and I currently have no CEL...we will see.

Dynos have shown anywhere from 3-7 hp, on average, mostly through the midrange, and it tends to smooth out the VTEC transition just a tad. The sound at VTEC+ is a deeper, throatier roar, but not overbearing like some of the exhausts out there.
