While lots of guys like to call their cars "her" I have never really found anything effeminate regarding my S. My S is too fast, too powerful, too awesome to call it a bitch's name. Conversely I do not call it a dude either. It is just my S and that says enough for me. Good luck with calling your S some girly name. Or you could just call it Brad....

More importantly then the trivia of a name, welcome back to the family! Consider actually joining the community

Here is a quick tip. If you are unfamiliar with the site the search engine is not the best(might be the worst) but there is a simple way around it. Just use your usual Google search and put a s2ki in it. Like "headers s2ki" or "replacement speakers s2ki" or "seats s2ki". Works great.

It has nothing to do with the car being effeminate, it's just good luck naming it after a woman. Although men don't have curves like the s2k

A battleship and aircraft carrier are not considered effeminate either especially if you are on the receiving end. However, those muscular ships are referred to as feminine objects known as "she". That spills over to aircraft as well. They are known as ships and have ship names (hull for example) and are also called "she". It is not that far of a stretch to call cars much the same way. I attributed anthropomorphic qualities to my S named after my wife and it worked out well using my wife's middle name. We keep it in house.

Found in many ward rooms in the Navy:

"“A ship is called a she because there is always a great deal of bustle around her; there is usually a gang of men about; she has a waist and stays; it takes a lot of paint to keep her good-looking; it is not the initial expense that breaks you, it is the upkeep; she can be all decked out; it takes an experienced man to handle her correctly; and without a man at the helm, she is absolutely uncontrollable. She shows her topsides, hiders her bottom and, when coming into port, always heads for the buoys.”
