Since we're all so obsessive about caring for our little car, I thought I'd vent a little about what happened today...

I parked the car in the garage and didn't pull hard enough on the handbrake. Went into the house... meanwhile the car slowly rolled up against the garage door. My mother dropped by and pressed on her remote garage door opener... the door opened a bit and closed again. This happened about 10 times. I heard the noise and finally clued in to what was going on... ran out, and saw the door was going up and down against the back of the bumper!

Well, I expected and got scratches, and a spot where the paint was ground(sp?) off. Never happened in all my 22 years of driving. Next time I'm going to yank that d_mned brake!

...end of vent.

OUCH!!!

Same thing happened to my friend's DelSol. Sawed a nice gash through the bumper cover. Garage door had to be replaced too.
Beware of garage doors, steep drives, curbs, speed bumps, flying rocks, spinning / flying flattened beer cans...

your mother has a garage door opener remote for your house?!

sorry to hear about the mishap!

just think, some GM cars have handbrakes that dont work even when you DO give them a yank!

Thanks for both your support.

Actually, I don't feel too bad now, thinking what could have happened if I had forgotten to close the garage door. At the moment I did feel like giving the !@#*&^$ door a good kick. My car's going in for service tomorrow... I'll have to tell them to really tighten the handbrake. Then lots of Zaino #5 to try to mask some of the scratches.

My mother-in-law doesn't even know where I live, much less have a garage remote. "Stupid is as stupid does." --Forest Gump

Leaving a car in gear is dangerous since if
you forgot you are in gear (like 1st), you turn the key (oops! ,really should be press the start button) the car will shot forward in no time.
proper use of Hand brake is the way to go.

Correct me if I made this event up (subconciously... in a dream maybe? I do dream about my car)

I turned the key WITHOUT pressing the clutch and the Start button did nothing... We have to press our clutch in order to start the car... correct?

Maybe I have been sniffing too much antifreeze

I did the same thing with my Teg.....except it rolled down the driveway, and hit my neighbors big evergreen bush. Thank god for big evergreen bushes!
