Default After install of CAI getting weird issues. Please Help.

1. Check engine light is on.
Is this due to the ECU reprogramming itself

2. Weird irregular hisssing from 02 sensor.

3. Excessive black gunk on tail pipes.
I am going to clean them off now and then go drive it again to make sure this is above normal amounts.

It is Injin CAI

Did you remove any wire harnesses that were in the way during the install?

I would reset the ECU and see what happens.

I reset the ECU and got the check engine light turned off. O2 sensor still making eratic sucking sound but maybe it has always done that.

S2KTroup,

You probably have some of the air hoses mixed up. I mixed mine up with the RM intake and didn't get it right until I had a fellow S2000 owner park next to me to compare where the right hoses go.

Try resetting the ECU...if the engine light comes on again in after 3-4 drives (shutting off and driving the car), your hoses are mixed up.

Check to see if the O2 sensor isn't loose or has an improper seal. If exhaust gas leaks out from the O2 sensor hole, before the cat....you'll get more blackening around the tail pipes and on the rear of the car, a check engine light due to the change of richness of oxygen in the exhaust emissions, a LOUD hissing noise due to bad or no seal, and worse gas mileage.

All this is because with either a bad O2 sensor, you'll be running richer.

Any mechanical techies, please respond in my novice eval.

I think you're talking about your vacuum purge solenoid valve thing making hissing noises. that happens when the vacuum lines are hooked up wrong or the little white check valve is backwards.

Please check the link. the little dohickey bolted to the intake next to the Injin logo is where the sound is coming from.

Thank You for all help

Yes, that's your vacuum purge solenoid valve or some sh!t like that... forgot the exact name. anyway, the reason it's hissing at you is your check valve is in backwards (the little white thing that connects the stock vacuum hose to the red injen riceboy vacuum hose, just to the left of the solenoid valve in the picture).
