Quaife is race tested and proven and is the real deal!

However, I don't know about availability for the S2000.

Here's a link to their web site to find out:

I dealt with Dan Ponze - great guy. usually ~$800 for 1.5 way kaaz w/ 2 bottles of fluid (one bottle will be enough for first fill and change after break in, if you don't spill too much). They make a 2-way conversion if you're looking to build a drift machine, but they don't recommend 2-way for anything else.

FYI

After S2000 Driver's post, I went to the Quaife web site and sent them an email earlier this morning. Received the following reply just a little while ago:

"Thank you for your inquiry. We have not received the level of interest that you seem to have, however, we are more than happy to begin development for a unit for the S2000. What we require is a sample unit and output flange to begin development. We require minimum orders of 25 units to warrant production. An enthusiasts website is an excellent way to band together and get a special initial price. Many of our applications were originally developed in this manner.

Regards,

Ralph Hollack"

The Quaife unit is basically identical in design to the stock torsen, but is much better in quality (it's still an ATBD, not an LSD). If you want the car to drive the same, but have somewhat better reliability, the Quaife is a good choice. If you want the driving advantages and durability of an LSD, I suggest the Kaaz. With an LSD, you will need to put in new LSD clutches every 70k miles or so (I haven't had mine that long, but that's about the service life according to everyone I've talked to), but I'd say you probably need to do a rear-end rebuild at least that often anyway.

What it really comes down to is - to keep the car driving the same, use a Quaife. If you like how it handles with a true LSD, get a Kaaz, or Cusco or other clutch pack.

As for installation, I really don't know. I did it myself and it was a big job. Not so much because there's a lot of labor, but because you need to be very precise or you will mess up all the sh!t in your rear end. I spent a little under $1400 on bearings, special tools, and the LSD when I did my rebuild. I will be suing Honda for that amount plus $600 for labor, which I will split with my friend who helped me. I would be surprised if you find someone to do it properly for less than $600.
