ok so my roommate and i got into an arguement. he thinks that his wrx with an sti (vf39)turbo could take an s2000 on a track... a real track not a 1/4 mile track. i told him he is a fool bc his wrx understeers like a bat out of hell and the turbo lag is simply rediculous! please give me more feedback so i can debate with him some more!! thanks!

That's one of the North Texas Members in a Prelude Keeping up with and eventually passing a 300+HP STi. So your friend should figure out quite easily what it would be like if a lighter more powerful S2000 were in the fold. I can just picture the S2000 closing on the WRX in corner entry under braking and pulling away after every corner.

 

If a Lude passes a STi, that's 100% definitive proof that the driver is the most important aspect of a race. IMO.

IMO with equal drivers a STi is probably quicker around a track than a S2000.

Turbo lag and understeer can be compensated for by a skilled driver.

BTW, it's a good idea to put something of the content of the thread in the title. "ahhh so angry" does not give me any idea of what you are talking about. Might try "Ahh so angry...STi vs S2000 race" or something like that.

I'd bet there is a lot of data (if someone knows where to look) that would tell which car is faster. And a story of a pinto passing a STi (in one instance) does not tell me anything of which car is faster when driven by experts.

 

according to Top Gear, a Lancer Evo has a faster track time than a Lambo Murcielago.....correct me if I'm wrong, but an EVO and an STi are about dead even......so I don't think an S2k (equal drivers) is going to beat the STi around.

 

This is not about an STi and an S2000, it's a WRX and an S2000.

What all has he done to his WRX? I've owned an STi and my father owns a WRX. S2000 > WRX any day! No chance whatsoever unless he's done some major suspension works AND gotten rid of the horrible stock RE-92s!

 

sorry about the title of the thread but basically the car is just performance. 2002 wrx, NOT AN STI, front mount vf-39 turbo (turbo off an sti) and other small stuff. i agree completely that he needs serious suspension work which is what my arguement was basically about. hes running the stock suspension with a cusco rear sway bar and some 18" wheels with pirelli p zero nero tires

 

it's all about the driver. awd and more power. i say he has a good chance.

 

I used to own a WRX (heavy modded) and they are quite capable of keeping up with S2000. I say it depends on the course layout and driver skill (as the video shown in this tread. Very awesome video btw)

Ok, that is Evo MR FQ430 which is different species than NA spec STi or WRX for that matter.
