Default Air Bag on/off feature?

Hi,

I want to give my 10 year old niece the ride of her life and need to know how I can de-activate the air bag. Any hints??

Oh no! Do ya know what requirements she has to fill in order to ride? Is it age or weight? ... this kind of reminds me of go-karting! That'd be a shame as she's a total sports car fanatic (just like her aunt)!

i think the passenger should be at least 12 and ideally the passanger should be 5'4 or taller.

There are switches that can be installed to do this. There is a company that specializes in precisely that. I have the link at work, I'll post it on Monday.

Age really doesn't make any difference, it is distance to the airbag (and I know a number of adults less than 5'4"). I have taken youngsters for a ride numerous times and just make sure the passenger seat is all the way back and the seatbelt is secure. There is always a risk in an automobile but with the current airbags and simple precautions it is acceptable for most.

because of liability issues, dealers in states such as california will not install the switch... here you have to take it to a body shop. my 11 year old rides with me with the seat all the way back, and i drive a lot more conservatively when she is with me!
