Hello all, I'm a fairly new S2K owner. Anyhow, is it normal for the A/C to be really cold and then not so cold and then really cold again? The temperature of the air coming out is not staying consistent.

I can be cruising at 70 (not varying the RPM's any) and the temperature will change. It gets cold/warm in consistent intervals.

I also find with the soft top up, when the sun is out and hot, the a/c doesn't feel as cold, but as soon as you hit some shade, it gets really cold. The top is not a good insulater from the sun.

Just curious, but do you guys drive with the top down and the A/C on at the same time?
I'm guilty of that from time to time.

What your experiencing is the compressor engaging and disengaging due to various conditions. If the compressor was on all the time the evaporator would freeze over.

What is described above is correct. There is also another determinding factor...R134(the new alternative to freon) is less effecient at keeping you cool. keep in mind that engine revs, and speed are what's going to keep you cool, and try to find shade (cooler) if you can. Keep engine revs up while travelling, and it'll be a little cooler. What I do sometimes is go MAX AC, then over to normal AC. MAX AC (I think) recirculates the air rather than taking fresh hot air from outside.
