airport parking
I did a search on airport parking and couldnt find what I was looking for....Here is the question......I am flying out of Columbus, Oh on sat to NYC. Should I leave my S at the airport in long term? or should I try to find some other means of transportation to from the airport? I live in Cincinnati (about 2hr drive one way)
Thanks

I think it's a no-brainer; why would you risk your S2K at the airport if other transportation methods would work?
As an example, my wife and I just returned from a week's vacation and when we returned to our parked car at Denver International Airport (a 1998 Audi A4), we found someone had decided to smash a rear view mirror from some other vehicle on the fender of her car. There's about $1000 worth of deep scratches in the hood and driver's front fender of her car. I suspect most any ragtop would be asking for it, whether it's a Porsche Boxster or a Jeep Wrangler...

I fly out every other weekend and leave mine in long term parking with zero problems so far (18 months). I do chose an airport that is regional so I feel pretty comfortable leaving it there. I could use a larger airport (45 minute longer drive) to get cheaper flights but wouldn't leave it parked there. Bottom line each case (airport) is different. Oh, and as RARE M5 suggested park in covered parking if available, I always use a cover and find a strategic spot (not to far out, on the end/one side protected with no one parking next to you, etc.). If it is not to cost prohibitive other transportation to the airport solves this of course (if where your leaving it is secure).

I've never left any of my cars in long-term airport parking but I have heard horror stories. Sometimes damage is vandalism and sometimes damage is weather related.
Having a garage at home, I'd never leave my S in long-term parking in any airport. I think I'd beg and bribe family, friends, or co-workers to give me a ride to and from the airport.
I think I'd just feel safer and enjoy myself more on a trip knowing my S was safe in the garage at home.

You might want to call one of the rental car agencies at the airport (Hertz, Avis, etc). They will usually allow (for a fee) long term parking on their facility. This is fenced and guarded parking as opposed to the airport lots. Further, their shuttle bus will take you to and pick you up from the terminal.
This is the best way to park at the airport.

To each his own, but I would never park my S2000 at the airport.
I fly 20-30 times per year and I've seen way too many troubling occurrances in airport and Park-n-Ride lots to allow that to be an option.
