Default Alarm/Remote stopped working?? (battery is still good)

I was hoping someone might have a quick fix idea whether than waiting in that long line early in the morning at the service department.

I came out to my car to find that my remote didn't work. No problem, I figured that I was probably playing around with the remote and reset it somehow. I drove home and grabbed my second set of keys and it still didn't work. (Both lights flash so I have to assume that the batteries are still good in both remotes)

So now I'm thinking that there is a blown fuse or possibly a dead batter on the receiver if this is possible? Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated as I really don't have the free time to spend at the Honda dealership. (I would assume this would be covered under warranty) It is a 01 S2000.

Thanks in advance!,
-Don

Don, I was going to suggest getting your other remote but you already tried that. I have been having the same problem, but if I push the unlock button enough times, it eventually works, but a pain in the butt. However, my other remote works just fine, so I just switched them.

I tried a new battery but still nothing. I went to the dealer, but wouldn't you know it, it worked just fine every time!!!!! Figures.

Anyway, I don't know what is causing it, so if someone knows, please let us know!! Thanks.

weird! I experienced the same problem after getting my car back from the paint shop (paint chip on bumper).

I fixed it by reprogramming the remotes by following the manual. You know, the one where you turn the key on, off, press "lock" for 3 times or something..

This happened to me once also.
I had the dealer install the honda alarm on the car.
They put the cutoff/turnoff switch just below the steering wheel. I let me then girlfriend drive the car and her legs hit it and turned it off.
All I had to do was flip the switch back to on. I guess it may be known as a valey switch.

Who knows, maybe this is the same thing.

Good luck

With the OEM honda alarm in the "valet" mode, the remotes do not operate at all.

If when you open the door, the LED illuminates, it is in "valet" mode.

Sit in the car, key out of ignition, all doors closed, and push and hold the valet switch unil the LED blinks.

Found the Valet switch, however, it didn't work. (Never had a reason to know where it was -- under the steering wheel) The OEM alarm light doesn't come on no matter how long I hold the Valet swtich. This was a great idea though (Thanks Kenny & aqautic).

Any other options or ideas? And thanks for such quick replies. It really is great to have an entire community of online experts

foolio,
I attempted to reprogram my remote several times with no success. It was the first idea that came to mind Thanks!

dzfx,

Actually, I failed to mention the "reprogramming" didn't work the first couple of times for me either. The technitions in the shop took it back in, worked on it for an hour, but came back with nothing solved. They did disconnect the battery to the car however. I tried to reprogram again after I got the car back, and it fixed the problem.

And yes, I did try pressing the valet switch for 3 seconds. That didn't do anything.

I just did a search and some others had the same problem. They fixed it by pulling the fuse for 'alarm' or 'remote'.
