Default Alignment Settings

Hey everyone,

I'm going to get an alignment tomorrow and was curious about what to tell the technician I want. I hear a lot of people refering to the European Spec Alignment. What does that mean and include. I want to get an alignment that will suit my needs. As of right now the Car is a daily driver that gets a lot of spirited driving and hopes to see a lot of track time in it's future. I also plan to get a Tein Flex suspension soon which will probably require another alignment.

I slide my car off the road recently and now whenever I put load on the rear wheels, like accelerating in 4th gear at 60mph the car wants to go to the left. I'm assuming that when the weight is transfered to the rear wheels the unaligned rear suspension is making it pull to the left.

Basicly I just want to know what to tell the technician who will perform the alignment (which I'll be watching closely). The car sees a lot of spirited driving so I don't want to sacrifice to much handling but I also don't want to go through tires like Sato.

Thanks for any advice and input.

Ryan B.

I got the optimum UK alignment done - car handles noticeably better. Doesn't seem like the tires are eating away too fast either. If you want, I'll give you the UK optimal specs when I get home from work.

Got this from the UK forum. These readings are in degree/minutes. If the alignment machine does it in decimals, convert the numbers appropriately. For example, 1 degree and 40 minutes would equate to 1.67 degrees, and so on.

Also, it says this is for MY99 - MY01 only. Does this affect the MY02+ negatively at all. I see you have an 03 SiDriver, is this a concern of your. Thanks

Thats interesting. I may try those settings when I get my alignment done soon. Never even knew they had different settings.

yes they will help, the increased camber(especially) and revised toe settings in the rear will help plant the car better during a turn. just remember that tire wear will increase compared to factory settings.

I got this quote from the post which had that pic .....

"When Honda released the 02 model with revised anti-roll bar and suspension settings they also released updated suspension geometry settings for the earlier models. It is a recommended alternative alignment, not a replacement or recall and it now applies to all S2000s including MY02 and onwards."

So, yes it applies to 02 and 03 as well. About 04s, I'm not sure.

Sounds like you need to check the air pressure in the tires. One of them could be low in pressure. I would do this before getting an alignment, esp. if you are getting a new susp. setup soon.
