Default All kinds of problems....

So I bought my first s2000 yesterday but I am in Virginia and the car is in Colorodo....

Problem 1....Cash was transferred and his loan was paid off in full on Monday. He went to today to pickup the title and Colorodo told him that they do not have electronic release and it will take about 30 days to get him/me (not sure of which) the title. I live in the city and cannot have a car sit without tags for a month.

Problem 2...Continental Auto Movers....HORRIBLE....pain in the ass. They have directly dodged my calls for 2 days after leaving a 75 dollar deposit. I will call 25 times from my number then call from my fiances phone with a different area code and basically bust them and they tell me the guy that has "my case" is the only one that can view my files and he isnt in the office and they dont know when he will be back lol.

Options....Wait a "dmv month" and get the title and hopefully the car....

Or the guy offered to refund me all of money by reestablishing the loan....but how long will that take???

What would you do??

How comfortable do you feel with the vendor? If you feel comfortable leaving the vehicle with him and you can agree on safe and secure storage for the month (get a pic of the odo) then I wouldn't worry and would pick the car up in a month. If you would rather, go and pick the car up and have it transported back to you (maybe you want to use a different Transporter) so that it is in your possession and stored safely and then wait out the Colorado DMV (presumably you only need the clear CO title in order to be able to register it in your state, not remove it from the state). Make sure you get an originally executed copy of the Bill of Sale from the Vendor. If you are concerned about the Vendor and/or the arrangements, take his offer and ask for your money back.

I was about to buy an out of state car myself, but realized all the inherent problems. At the last minute, I found a local one that was a better deal all the way around.
I suggest you do the same.

In the future, deal with cash. Cut out the middle man, and middle man headaches. Go get your car in person. The cost to have it shipped is damn near the cost to drive it home.
Example: My car was in Philly, I'm in Cali. Cost to ship car was about 850 and time was a week plus. I bought a plane ticket, paid for hotels and food, and it cost me about 1,200. What did i get for the "extra" 350? Peace of mind, an invaluable experience of driving across this great nation of ours and meeting the best people ever on the way home. I also had the opportunity to do what most people buy the S for in the first place... to drive it.
The situation youre' in now could be handled like this. Go get the car. Bring it home and park it at a self locking facility for a month (might cost a hundred bucks for the 30 day). Let time handle the rest, then go about your business as usual.

P.S. Go to the shipper in person and grab up Yo 75 snaps and raise holy hell while you're there. Tell them fools this ain't the FBI case by case, it's a business, pay me my damn money or I'll get the police involved (while holding the phone in hand). As you can see evasion pisses me off.

Refund is being processed by my broker and the seller wired the money back .......

I really wanted that s2k but with the 30 day wait and all the holidays i figured its best for now just in case. If its meant to be he will get the title right after Christmas and I will fly out and get the car myself for sure.

Thanks guys... meanwhile i put up a WTB thread in the classifieds and maybe I will get lucky with something local.

Does Virginia not offer temporary plates?

There are plenty of us that have purchased out of state without problems. Not saying there's no risk.
