Seems most new owners put up their acquisition experience, so here goes. Through Priceline.com my 2001 Silver/red was located at Direct Auto Plaza in El Centro, Imperial Valley, San Diego region of California. After a beautiful Southwest flight my wife and I were taken by my brother from San Diego to El Centro where we were graciously and efficiently presented our 2001 S2K. After the overnight at my brother's home (viewing the Rolex 24 on Speedvision) we left San Diego under AWESOME (dude) sunlit smogless skies for the drive back to the SF area.
Traversing a crystal-clear LA basin ("temperature in No. Hollywood a balmy 87 degrees" stated KNX) we hugged the 101 coastal route to join in on my daughter's Sunday afternoon BBQ at UC Santa Barbara ("hey, check out the FAT car the old folks got!") before presenting the S2K to the anxious hands of our 20-year-old son for HIS first drive around the block.
I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams a better combination of car, weather, customer service and overall Kalifornia Koolness. This certainly bodes well for our ownership experience with a truly AWESOME (dude) automobile.

Welcome to the brotherhood/sisterhood of S2000 owners.

Just please don't let your Livermore friends combine any pasta with antipasta and annihilate the hemisphere.

You'll have to meet us for lunch sometime now, you do realize this, dont you? It's required of all bay area owners to at some point meet the other owners at lunch

Thanks for the warm welcome, I look forward to those S2K lunches that so far I have only dreamed of attending. I work at a (non-Livermore) medical center but I will use all my considerable influence (zero) to try and keep The Lab from damaging anything.

Hey by the way 2X6spds I did not see ONE S2000 on our trip from El Centro to Livermore yesterday. Enough poorly-driven sport utes to last me 1.9 lifetimes, but not one fellow S2K'er. Where were all you SoCal enthusiasts??

Bob,

I don't know about everyone else, but I was cruising the local beaches down here in the south bay. The perfect weather for it on Sunday, the temps were in the high 70's at the beaches.

This weekend was the best driving weather so far this year. Can't wait for summer to come along so that it's like this almost everyday.

Welcome to the club. Your son is one lucky guy.

Phooey....izzit that obvious how old and decrepit I am? At any rate no S2Woooooow that was not us on the 118. Under normal circumstances it might have been as that would be the way we get to my Dad's place in Thousand Oaks but the ol' guy was in Palm Springs with his phat girl phriend phor the weekend. So we went directly on up to Isla Vista on 101.
Thanks phor the spelling lesson.

Hey Bob, welcome. It doesn't surprise me that you didn't see any s2k's here in El Centro as I have the only one in the county. You should have asked and I would have gladly driven your new S2000 up to you. Anyway welcome to Stookopolis.

Yo MWillis thanks for the welcome and the delivery offer, turned out to be one of the best weekends ever spent but it would have been nice to visit had I known. I was quite amazed to not spot anybody in San Diego or all of LA, but I guess straight-lining it up 101 was not what everyone was doing. Can't blame anyone, it was way too nice to spend all day on the freeway. I am gonna assume you got yours at Direct as well...are they always that nice over there?

Bob,

Direct Auto doesn't have an especially good reputation. They handle such a wide variety of autos (Honda, Chevy, Crysler, Jeep, Dodge) that their salesmen don't seem to be very knowledgable about any of the cars. They had a terrible rep up until a year ago but they changed owners and are improving. I would be interested in hearing about the deal you got there. Typically the dealers down here aren't that interested in giving great deals. Anyway, hope you are enjoying your new ride.
