Am I crazy?!?
Hey everyone.
I currently own a 2004 Suzuka, with ~83k miles on it. Small amount of mods on the car (Intake/headers/HFC/exhaust, springs, wheels) and I absolutely love it. I used to own a 2001 Silverstone, but sold it due to practicality reasons (was my DD.)
I absolutely love S2000s. I recently graduated college and I landed my first real job, which I start in a few weeks. My s2000 is my DD, and I am starting to feel the impracticality of it again in some respects. So lately, I have been thinking of selling the s2k and getting into something more 'practical' (Evo/Sti, or e46 m3.) However, the more I think about it, the more I know that those other cars will not be as fun to me as the s2000 is. I also want more power, and I want to start modding my car more. However, I feel like my car already has 83k miles on it, which is a little too late to start heavily modding. Also, I love Suzuka, but I love Rio/NFR/GPW/LPB more.
My idea... sell my s2000, and purchase another s2000 with ~10-20k miles on it, and also purchase a cheap beater for DD purposes and winter (I drive close to 18k miles a year). I would then supercharge the s2000 (probably the science of speed kit, a modest 320-350whp, nothing crazy) and then do lots of other mods along the way (suspension, nice wheels, etc etc.) I would keep this s2000 in my garage, and only take it out on weekends/summers, probably only put ~5k miles per year.
Is this idea crazy to anyone else? Has anyone else done something similar?

80 something K is nothing to add a supercharger to. These engines properly maintained will last a looong time.
Hell I am putting a vortech sc on mine tomorrow and my car has 122k on it.
If you have the money then getting one with lower mileage of course is nice but just cause the car has 80 does not mean it can't be boosted. Seen cars on here with over 170k boosted and running great!

It's crazy.
Crazy like a fox.
I'd actually like to get myself a DD beater as well. I have one in the form of a '92 Celica, but it needs a lot of work that I'm a bit lazy to get started on. Used to be a VERY sharp car, but it got beaten like a rented mule over the course of the last winter I drove it before I bought the S.

I sold my Laguna Blue Pearl for my CR. It's not crazy if what you're after you really can't obtain or feel comfortable with in your current s2000. I do agree that 83k is not a high mileage, especially on these engines. If you truly want another color then I would say yes, but if you like suzuka, then I would say keep what you have and get a DD in addition.

Not sure what your job is, but I learned that I needed 'practical' to transport customers/employees/VPs etc. The immediate need for a practical car eliminated my dream of two seaters and sports cars....
Moved up the chain...now two seats are all I need.
