Default am i crazy for liking steel wheels?

i like steel wheels. this is not a joke. the look of alloys is really flashy, and i dont really want to be flashy. there is a kind of purity in the steel wheel. i am not kidding. steel wheels remind me of nostalgic old roadsters... just honest, pure sports cars without too much flash. you probably think im nuts.

im thinking of throwing on a set of new accord steel wheels onto my S... i currently have black powdercoated stock alloys on the S. theyre ok, but i would prefer to have the wheel sitting inside the fender more, kinda like old british roadsters and the porsche 356. the only thing holding me back is i dont want to sacrifice too much in handling with a more narrow tire. after owning miatas for several years, i am very critical about a cars handling...

my guess is that there is probably one other person out there who has any idea what i am talking about and can relate... but thats ok. to each his own. you know, once i spray painted a bunch of stripes on an old vw rabbit i owned? that was crazy. most people wouldnt do that either. but hey, its all for fun, ya know?

I don't think you'll find a steel wheel that will tuck like you want without having brake clearance issues.

Wheels are about the most contentious appearance item I can think of on a car, web. Hey, you're entitled to like whatever you want to.

Personally, I'm into a darker look around the wheels. I prefer darker to shiny, bright wheels. I bought gunmetal rims last year when I upsized to 17", and I love them. That said, I think the '00-'03 stock rims are great.

Good luck.

I swear I remember reading about a place that fabricates custom steel wheels for salt flat racing though. I'll do some searching a little later and let you know what I come up with.

Crazy for liking steel wheels? Nah.

Crazy for actually wanting to put them on your S? Sure.

Steel wheels on an S don't remind me of old British roadsters. To me, steel wheels on an S makes me think that your tires were all slashed or your wheels were stolen and steel wheels were all you could replace them with for the time being.

But hey, if you like the look. More power to you.
