I want to put the AMP in the space to the left of the spare tire, behind the trunk liner...my question: Is there enough air back there to keep the AMP cool?
Any other suggestions I would appreciate... but not under passenger seat, and Id prefer it to be somewhat hidden...Oh and I am removing the spare.....Thats why Im thinging where I first said.
Also, What do you all think of the Phoenix Gold ZX400 TI amp...it has that cooling fan built in
Thanks

I believe I was one of the first ones to snug a couple of amps into this spot. I bought my car in Oct. 99 and my 2 Punch amps (punch 100/punch 60) went in there in Nov. 99

1 year, no problems overheating. These are not fan cooled amps either.

Marco,

I put my Alpine amp in the spot you mentioned and it's been there for about 4 months. Works great. Not much breathing room but I dont' over drive the amp. I kept the stock head unit and installed a set of Polk 6 1/2 components in the stock position in the doors. The tweaters are strapped in front of the speakers.

Hope this helps.

Marco, S2K-F8 & RHES2K - I want to add an amp in the space you mention - behind the drivers seat above the gas tank, right? If that's the spot, how did you/do you plan to mount the amp. My system is not fancy, I just want to put in a 50-100W 2 channel amp to drive my 2 Infinity Kappa 6.2i speakers. TIA.

CoralDoc,

My amps fit in this space tightly. There was no need to mount them or secure them in any way. We just ran enough wires to hook the amp up and tune it. Then just snugged it in that small space and put the trunk liners back in place.
