I think boat silicone is more of a gel-coat than a silicone. Kinda like Bondo, but in a more rubbery consistency. We used that stuff on my old sail boat. Worked great, but is a PITA to get off if you screw it up! Go slow, and with a cue tip and you should not have any problems.

I was told that the gaps sometimes arise when a thicker tape is used. If you get 3M tape, it is less than 2mm thick. Pics up later tonight.

boat silicone is UV resistant so it won't turn yellow and it doesn't crack with temperature variations (its survived 2 canadian winters so far)

I put the lip on first, then applied a nice, uniform bead across the whole top of the lip, not just at the gaps, but across the whole thing.

I just installed my lip tonight, and there are gaps like a mofo! Like 1/4" on either side of the front bumper. I ran outta tape, so I will have to apply some more tomorrow. THat should suck it down a lot. Then the boat silicone should fix it.

On a side note....I also installed some Air Walker side skirts, but the driver's side door hits, and chipped the paint right at the latch side. I wish I woulda test fitted prior to painting . Oh well. I might sand the chipped bit down a little (til it doesnt hit), then touch it up.

Will post pics when it is all done.

I siliconed the lip and painted it. Looks decent, but still not up to my standards. Has anyone moulded the lip into the front bumper? I posted another thread on this, and no one is replying . I was wondering how much time it would take a good shop to do something like that.

When I had the lip, it had gaps, but I took it to the body shop to get the gaps filled, and they turned out fine.

how much $ did that run you? The body shop that painted these charged me $600+ for paint / repairs.

not an amuse lip but i have mastergrade cf lip. fitment is PERFECT. it's a tiny bit on tight side so it will actually hold itself without any screws. i thought that was the best fitment lip kit so far.
