Default Annoying engine shutoff

My 03 with 55,000 miles has an annoying , intermittent, problem. When it goes to idle speed it will die. This can occur at a stoplight or, more problematic, when I decelerate to make a turn. The engine always restarts easily. I might go several outings with no issue, then it will reoccur. Anyone have this problem?

Have you had the battery disconnected for any amount of time? Try looking up and doing the idle relearn procedure first. Normally this should only be needed if the battery was disconnected for a while, but its easy and worth a try. Beyond that, look up cleaning your IACV and do that to see if it resolves your issue.

And to add, actually look for the iacv diy. Its not just spray some clean like on so many other cars. Its pretty easy, but specific.

If iacv is cleaned, try main relay. I had a similar issue but swapping the relay resolved my issues.

I have the same issue on my newly acquired track s2000. I didn't have the 5-star torx (tamper-proof) to do the full clean. I did spray it down and used a q-tip to clean it - it had not been cleaned (118K on this motor). That plus idle relearn actually fixed it. Going to re-do it once my 5-star torx bits are here and I'll keep you posted.
