Default Another Hardtop Fitment Issue Thread :)

Hi;

This is my 2nd S2000 in 10 years. First one i bought directly from the dealer and fitted with OEM Hardtop ; no problems ; brackets was OEM ofcourse and the fitment was perfect.

Fast forward to today and as you can imagine its very hard to come by to a hardtop thats in good condition and prices are very high. I came a cross to a deal which was really good to pass and i was looking for a hardtop especially Mugen. I live in a small city and hard tops are not easily couriered ; luckily we were in the same city as the seller so the transaction was very swift. (around 2000USD if anyone is wondering)

The only downside is the brackets that are on the car is not original ; the owner made it himself so the fitment is not so great. Its not a nightmare fitment wise ; that being said ; there is a gap on the rear window side ; same gap for both sides and i can tell that the locking of the hardtop is not so good when you do it ; i can feel its not entirely locked in.

All i want to know if this hardtop is geniune Mugen and if i can get my hands of good quality brackets should there be no problems? So my question will be to anyone who has owned or currently own Mugen Hardtops or have knowledge about them. I attached some pictures so if you can direct me to how i can resolve this fitment issue ; i would really appreciate.

authentic mugen hardtops have the serial number engraved onto a metal plate thats riveted just above the rear window on interior side.

For OP and future users....

The magic combo for noise free hard tops is:

-Buy an OEM or Mugen top. Anything else will, by design, require modifications to properly fit YOUR S2000. Maybe Spoon is also a mod-free design because of their Honda connection? Not sure.

-Solid front brackets that bolt on and are PROPERLY installed.

-Latching (OEM or OEM style) rear brackets.

-Meticulous and proper install. Take more than 5 mins. Use good sense.

If you're using any other combination than described above, it will make noise and leak. No need to be surprised.

Thanks for your answers

1-The product is authentic Mugen. The badge and all ; it has a proper serial number on it as well. I also checked the brackets that are fixed on the hardtop ; they look legit. (comparing to my OEM one)
2-I know that we need the OEM brackets to have the perfect fit although ; i checked with the dealer and they quoted me around 1200USD just for the brackets that are supposed to be fitted on the car.

Do you have any links or places you know that i can find that part?

I think i need parts 19 + 20

bernadiparts is like $800ish?

Forbidden USA sells CNC'd OEM replicas. I assume they work? They're like $300ish.
