Default Another S2000 Praise post

When I drive my S I notice alot of looks from other people (naturally). Older males and females, younger males and females, just about every kind of person seems to be intrigued by the car. But the looks I enjoy and cherish the most are the ones from the kids, between the ages of 5-10 (around). I love glancing over and seeing a little kid with their hands at the bottom of the window and their eyes, just over the top of the door, peering out with awe. It reminds me of when I was younger (not too long ago ), and I would stare at my "dream" cars. I remember thinking about how cool the car was and how cool I would be and that it would go a hundred-million mph in 6 seconds and be able to turn "doing like 70 mph !" Also, the looks from this age group seem very genuine and simple. It's always fun to give them a smile and wave and watch them do the same.

Thanks for listening, just wanted to share some of my good experiences!

I hear you loud and clear

I went to have my car washed Sunday at a make-shift car wash in a large parking lot. It was held by a young local baseball team charging 5 bucks for a quick wash. The ooh's and ahh's I got from them outweigh any praise I get from anyone else. I can picture myself at their age again, with the 'supercar' images running thru my head - good stuff indeed

OMG - you let a bunch of young kids wash your car with sand filled sponges and while they running around your S with metal ended hoses I just give them my donation and drive away..

DUDE - you need to spend some time in the wash/wax section

Kids' admiration for cool cars is genuine. They haven't yet learned to cop an attitude toward others' possessions.

About a year ago, my wife and I were on a drive and we stopped off at a 7-11. A 10 or 11-year-old girl in the parking lot kept looking slack-jawed at our car like she was hypnotized.

I was crazy about cars at that age too. I used to wander our neighborhood just looking at other cars' dashboards and wondering how it would feel to drive them. Nobody ever freaked out about it -- those were more innocent times, I guess.

I agree. Kids reactions to the looks of a vehicle are the most genuine because they are unbiased by performance statistics, brand names, etc. I've had an 8? year old walk by my car with his dad and heard, "Wow, look at that car daddy. It's so cool!"

I was helping out the local High School Crew Team with a car wash once and a mint 60's Mustang comes by. The guy actually let the kids wash the car. They were an older couple and the wife told me that she thought her husband had lost his mind since he never let anyone touch it but himself.

One time I was driving through this neighborhood and there was a group of about 10 guys all standing around this 89 CRX Si. This boy who was probably no older than 16 was working on his car when he saw me me drive by. They all started yelling at me to stop the car and ran behind me. The boy ran up and asked for a ride. I took him around the corner revving the car like crazy. I saw him holding on for dear life. When we got back, he said thanks and that my car was the coolest car in the world. He jumped out and ran to his friends like he had just got off of a rollercoaster. It was a great feeling.

I've had kids admiring my car aswell...One weekend I was with my girlfriend and pulled into a gas station. I parked at a empty pump and across from me was a SUV with two kids between 9-10 yrs. old. As soon as I open my door to get out I hear a soft whisper "ahhhh an S2000" , grabbing his friend that was next to him and pushing his face into the window to get a glimpse of the car he says "look". All of this while not making one single eye contact with me. They were in complete awe and reliving the times that they've driven that car on their playstation. After observing them for a few seconds I proceeded to pay. I come back to fill up and nothing has changed, it's like the car had possessed them and had their eyes fixed on the car. Well I finished pumping gas and I go on my way. My girlfriend starts telling me that while I went to pay they were talking to each other, telling their mom to look and had big grins on their face. I don't think I'll ever forget that...
