Another Suzuka Blue Paint match Hell
capSo about a month ago i order a replica Air-walker front and sides Urethene for MY02 Suzuka Blue, only to find out that the left skirt does not fit properly. Shop sent me another left skirt which fitted a little better then the first one.
It finally stopped raining in NOR-CAL so i went to a reputable body shop last week where i have gotten kits in the past painted. I dropped of my GAS door, paint code, and vin# and the 4 pieces of kit. front, sides, and c-west rear.
Today i went to pick up the kit and in the body shop the gas cap matched perfectly with the kit so i was like SWEEET good job....
Well tonight i installed the front lip and the color seems darker then the color on my front bumper.. (not sure if this is a garage with all the lights etcc..)
Doing some search and reading what ppl have said how hard it is to match the suzuka paint.. should i go back to the shop and have them redo? or ditch the kit and order the oem front?

1. Bumpers may have a different shade due to the painting process being later and it being on plastic.
2. To get a perfect match, leave your car and have them blend. Not your gas cap.
3. You sure it doesn't look different just because it's low? If this is a question of it being a little darker then... come on. And if it's that the bumper is a little off then.... Get your bumper painted to match the gas cap. You're going to need to have the whole car painted to match that gas cap if you wish for a perfect match.
My stock hood, bumper, and front lip..All oem paint.. had slightly different shades. The bumper being slightly lighter than the hood and lip. Most noticeable under parking lot lights.

Best thing is to wait till tommorow and take pics and see if it is totally off!!!
i was looking at pics of other suzuka blues and it seems that they have a similar pattern that i am having.. for example this one.. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=361969&st=0
every single suzuka blue that i have seen, their bumpers never match the body perfectly. and this is off oem paint. so if you gave them the gas cap and they matched it, they sort of did their job, correct? hold the gas cap to the bumper and see if the same difference is apparent. its probably more noticeable because the lip is so much bigger.
look where your bumper meets the fender more carefully and see if it matches perfectly.

wow, just saw the pics.
yup, your car is like that as well. the lip looks like it matches the fender better than the bumper. and i can tell from the pic that your oem bumper does not match the oem fenders as well. sorry to say, but still to this day, EVERY suzuka i have seen suffers from this.

ya, all the s2k's have them to a degree, some just more noticeable than others. some not noticeable at all. actually a suzuka owner was the one who pointed this out to me, then i started to make notice of it every time i saw one. as someone mentioned, a contributor is the fact that they are different surfaces being painted.

here is a shot of this phenomenon on the rear.
I just had a new front bumper painted and installed and it's a slightly darker color NFR than the rest of the car. it's slight and noticeable if you look for it, but it doesn't bother me.
