Default Antenna Stolen!!! How to prevent in future?

I'm really mad, because someone stole my antenna. The radio seems to work fine, so I am thinking od doing without it. However, what the heck did the thief want it for? It's not like he can get a lot for it.

Anyone know a way to prevent this in the future?

If mine ever gets yanked, I'm gonna get a strip antenna for the windshield and plug that hole with body colored fiberglass..... done....

It seems that folks like the s2000 antenna. I don't know why, I guess their antenna sucks, but, they need to have it. So they take it. I don't know that it can be prevented. Like I said above, if it happens to me, I plan to simply take the antenna out of the equation altogether. It'll make for cleaner body lines too.........

sorry waffle, that sucks. I live in socal, and I'm basically waiting for it to happen.....

My friend who has an S takes his off everytime he is away from the car for a decent period of time. It's not that big a deal once you get used to it, he says.

I have the RM billet antenna, and it's attached with with blue Loctite. It's been on for over two years and no problems.

The good news is, as far as OEM Honda parts go, a new antenna is relatively cheap, I think only 10 or 15 bucks, so if unscrewing it and taking it with you isn't an option, just buy a few spares.

Has anyone done any scientific (non anecdotal) testing to see if the radio works any worse without the antenna? Personally I like the look of it, but if it doesn't increase reception, what's the point?

Just leave it off! That's what I did

Since I rarely use the radio anyway with the top down (about 90% of the time) I took mine off and capped the hole with a stainless steel hex cap screw. I like the clean look without the antenna and with the cap screw in place, dirt won't plug the hole. If I want music I'll bring cds. I got the screws from Home Depot. 10-32 thread btw. Hope this helps.

I would LOVE to see a custom-shaped plastic latching plug that is paintable (or comes pre-painted).

If someone gives me the exact dimensions of the hole, and maybe a straight-on picture of the hole... I could design a molded plug with Solidworks. (That's what I do for a living). Then someone can take the model and have it tooled for manufacture. A good place to do this would be www.protomold.com .

It could be a part of a complete antenna relocating kit

someone at the dealer took mine when the car was new!
they had to order one back in those days- and sent it to me.
i prefer not to glue it, as i dont want anyone ruining it from trying too hard to remove it. i would rather just have them take it (if they are going to) and i can get a new one.
by the way, its not too much of a concern for me as my car is almost always covered if i am not in it- theives usually prefer the easiest items to steal. it is easier to steal an antenna from a car that is not covered.

I've simply unscrewed the antenna and left it in the trunk. I have a plug from an MDX antenna (the antenna's are dealer installed and the cars are shipped with a plastic plug) that I place in the hole and it covers up the threads nicely.
