The frustrations are usually just part of the learning process.
Too bad we tend to forget that when we need it most.
I run my car in SM2, on OEM S02's, so obviously I'm not out there chasing trophies. The mods have all been oriented toward adapting the car to my particular driving style and habits, and autocrosses are just an excuse to let it all hang out.
On other cars I have always gone for a firm but supple suspension that would work well even on our Georgia back roads, but that's not possible with the Honda. Even at stock ride height, the S2000 does not have enough suspension travel to traverse the worst of our roads at speed without bottoming, and going to stiffer springs and shocks would make the ride on those roads unacceptable (it already is unacceptable), so the roads have to be avoided or taken slowly in the car no matter what. Since the car is uncomfortable on such roads, at any speed, I avoid them, and since making that decision, I've decided to go the other way with this car, and see how miserable I'll be with even less suspension travel. So far it's not nearly as bad as I expected; In fact, it's surprisingly civil.
LOL, I do, however, go through a pair of rear S02's in 5000 miles or less.

I do like the contours of the stock dash and body panels though
My S-02's were normally dead from heat cycling long before they were bald. Great stock tires, though a bit skinny. After driving on the AP2 wheels with RE050's, I find them better in the wet.
Regarding stiffer suspension, a firm non-adj seat helps, as does a punch card (buy 10 get 2 free) for the chiropractor visits.
