Any good tricks...
I've had real good luck using a citrus based mechanic's waterless hand cleaner to remove tar and other nasties from auto paint. The non-citrus ones are probably OK as well, but I don't like the smell. *Don't* use one with pumice; I don't know if it would actually scratch the paint, but the thought of abrasives on paint causes me to cringe.
Rub some of the GoJo (or whatever brand you choose) on the glue, let it sit for a while, then wipe it off. You may have to use several applications to get it all off. Wash the remaining handcleaner off by washing the car; it's intended to rinse off the mechanic's hand. In my experience, you don't want any water on the area until the glue is gone.
In my admittedly limited experience, this stuff won't hurt auto paint, but it certainly is going to remove all the wax. (But you probably already knew that.)
This stuff also works as a laundry pre-treat for grease stains on clothing; it'll sometimes even remove a grease stain that has already been through the dryer. Of course you should probably test it on the fabric in an inconspicuous place first, but I've never damaged anything. Safe on cotton, but I don't know about all the various synthetic fibers.

I'll probably have the whole thing set up the week between Xmas and New Year's. It was $120 for a night vision camera, a motion detector, an alarm chime, and the USB hookup & software so that it'll go straight to my PC. The idea is that it will only capture video for some pre-determined time after the motion detector sets it off. I'll let you all know how well it works after I've set it up.

sorry to hear about your situation. a couple of months ago, someone stole my clear sidemarkers along with the wiring. hope you get your baby back into shape. you might consider getting the classic honda logo that rick has in the works.
That sucks about your emblems. What are you going to replace them with.
I hope you catch whoever did this with your nightvision camera. I hope they don't troll the boards and know about it though.

Forget the video, go with a 30-06 with the night scope. One less vandal in the neighborhood then!!!
If your good and fast with it, might be able to take out his friends also!!
Just kidding of course.

I used Goo Gone. A trick is to wet a paper towel, then lay it on the glue. After 30 seconds or so, you can peel off the thickness of the glue with a fingernail. Another application of the towel and you'll be able to wipe off the rest of the glue with a cotton rag. No mess, no fuss, no frustration.
