Default Any military members around?

I am joining the Army and I am worried about taking my S with me. Does anyone have their car on post? Are you worried about anyone messing with it or its care while you are deployed? I don't want to only be able to drive my car every 6 months or so when I am on leave so it would be nice to take it with me.

I saw a black S2000 on Maxwell-Gunter AFB in Montgomery so hopefully that person is on here

Not in the military so I don't have any input there. But I just thought I'd stop by to say good luck and thanks.

Depending on the base, cars on base are the nicest vehicles around.
Young men coming home with combat pay means a lot of nice cars. Saw it at Ft. Bragg. Amazing.

Air Force here. Lots of sports cars and bikes hanging around on bases (for better or worse). I am sure you will have to go a little while without your S depending on what training you go though, but eventually you'll be allowed to have it. On base is exceptionally safe for Air Force and Navy, Army can have some problems. I'm not trying to start a fight here, just what I've seen in 8 years. Day to day the car will be better off than most places you could possibly park, and your insurance will probably go down. If you deploy I would scratch together a few bucks to keep it in covered storage somewhere safe from hail and sun. Let me know if you have anymore questions and me sure to THINK HARD about what you are about to commit to. Good luck!

I'm in the Army. I've seen around 10 different s2000 cars around. There are Boss 302s, M3s, M5s, Porsches, Corvettes etc. all over post. Nobody will be out to mess with your car.

Yeah man I'm in the guard and in my unit there is a guy with a black CR. And when I went to fort hood I saw quite a bit of s2000's and sport bikes. I wouldnt worry about it, generally military members dont mess with other peoples stuff.. Your platoon might play a joke on you but doubt anyone would consider terrorizing your car on base. Then again it is the military, very stable and unpredictable LOL

It is nice to hear army bases are safe. When I was in the navy, I regularly saw cars that had been broken into or vandalized. My friend had parts stolen from his motorcycle during a 2 week detachment, and had multiple bike cover cut off of his bike. I never had anyone mess with my s2000. Just don't fall for the false sense of security. There are a lot of people in the military that are underpaid and in money trouble- plus the obvious, even though they are in the military, does not mean they are trustworthy and honest.

I've never had a problem with mine. I am on a Air Force base. But as everyone says stuff happens no matter where your at. Don't be discouraged to take it with you. My S has kept me company while being away .

Career Navy Guy. Tons of guys (now gals too) would leave vehicles in huge lots when cruise time came around. Virtually no problems for the 8-9months they sat there. Indeed, the big problem was not someone screwing with the cars, it was time and mother nature. Tires went flat, batteries died, gasoline became wax and gunk, bird crap etched into the paint.....you get the picture.

I have always felt good about having vehicles on base. Way different than the outside although it has happened that a service member will screw around with another's stuff.

For longer deployments see if you can get it garaged. Maybe a friend or family can drive it every month or so to stave off problems. For anything else get a good cover. I use a cover for my airport car and it looks great for almost 20 years.

Thank you all for the responces. I am pretty excited about joining and the thought of leaving my car made it less exciting. Hopefully I will get it when I leave Virgina for the rest of my AIT. Also this is motivation to buy a hardtop.
