There are a lot of threads on this topic if you do a search. However, I personally drive an Ap1 and have limited experience in an ap2. I can tell you that the Ap1 is a great car to drive.

I've owned an ap1 for 5 years, and I recently drove my first ap2 (2007 MY). I enjoy them both equally. I have to say that the ap1 doesn't have enough of an rpm range advantage to make it superior to the Ap2, and the Ap2 doesn't have enough of a torque advantage to make it superior to an Ap1. The Ap2 has a few more comforts to make it a better daily driver but I would never use my S2000 as a daily driver.

What are the comforts of an ap2, perhaps that can help the OP.
I know the ap2 has two cup holders, a leather arm rest, and vsa. What else?

I should have said, currently own both AP1 and AP2. Just curious which one you favor. And why.

Thanks!

I use the term "comfort" loosely, but ap2's have some upgrades that make them easier to live with. Those items listed above plus -Softer suspension, heavier flywheel, exterior temp gauge, nicer seats, extra stereo/speaker options, better suspension geometry, extra storage pockets, clutch delay valve, larger wheels/tires etc..

Both versions are close enough that I find any 'large' differences are exaggerated. Both cars will land you on the side of the road if you're not careful, and both cars are comfortable enough to be daily driven. I also find that when you start modding these cars, the whole AP1 vs AP2 debate goes down the drain. A buddy of mine has an AP2 with modded suspension and that thing is much harder to drive than an AP1, and it feels even more 'raw' or whatever phase people like to use.

To the op. I have owned 4 s2000s and currently have a gpw 2008 that I purchased new and a 2000 silverstone. They are both great cars. My ap1 has 4.44 gears which helps for the lack of low end torque. The ap1 screams between 8-9k that can't be replicated on the ap2. However the ap2 is less "Bucky" because of the heavier flywheel.

They are all great cars and the longer I own them (had at least one for the last 12 years) the more I appreciate them in stock form

Would you say that the AP2 is maybe a bit better for daily commutes. And the AP1 is better for long weekend drives? Or there just isn't that big of a difference between the two.

That the AP2 is more "civil?" And the AP1 more of a lean, driver's car?

Couldn't you answer that with your own conclusion since you own both AP1 and AP2?
