Default Any problems with high mileage in one year?

Hi,

Sorry if I should be putting this in the Is This Car Worth It thread, but my question is not on price but mileage. Car is overall relatively low mileage but I noticed a TON of miles were put on the car in one year, around 20k miles. Car still has less than 100k miles total. Anyone know if there are any issues with that?

Thanks!

I put 32k miles my first year when I bought mine new in 2002. That was with track days and canyon drives. Sold in Jan 2013 119k miles with zero engine and transmission issues. I was still on original clutch too. I changed oil( dino or synthetic ) every 3k miles and scheduled tranny and diff fluid changes. I took care of the car since new. Since you're buying used then my experience doesn't matter

Miles in a given year don't really mean anything inherently. Your guess is as good as the next person's on how or why there was a mileage increase vs. other years. More important is the current condition of the vehicle and any maintenance history that is available for you to review.

I was averaging 1,500-2,000 a month but now I garaged it and have been driving my bike

Thanks guys, I'll check it out, probably get a PPI anyways that should alleviate any concerns.

Love driving mine but 32K in a year might be more than I could handle - but then I'm 63.

Sounds like it may have been used to commute to work during that year. It's easy to accumulate 20k+ miles in a year depending on how long your commute is. Either that, or someone really enjoyed driving it Regardless, I don't see how it would be a problem.

As always, miles are just miles. Look over the history and get an inspection.
