Default Any reason to avoid purchasing an '01 with a supercharger?

Is there any reason why one should avoid buying a supercharged MY01 S2000?
There is one for sale by a Honda dealer, but not locally, so Im assuming the warranty only applies at that dealership.
Also..will the car show up as heavily modified for insurance purposes? I have not insured any of the mods to my current car, and don't see the need to, the money is a sunk cost anyway.

Car has less than 10k miles
Not sure of the exact asking price yet, but I am going to give them a call tommorow.
Mod list includes:
Cat-back exhaust
Springs
Brakes (says calipers and rotors, but pics aren't clear enough to see if it is infact a big brake kit, but it doesn't look like it. Looks like normal silverish calipers)
And a vortec supercharger and intercooler

I plan on modifying the car anyway, exhaust and springs would've been here before the car..and I would love a supercharger but probably couldn't justify the full cost of one..

Any input?

the first thing that comes to mind to avoid it would be that the previous owner probably sold it for a reason... either he drove the hell out of it... OR he couldn't afford to keep it... but if he had that much money to mod the car, im thinking he just didnt want it anymore...

but if that s2k still has the 36k warranty.... that would be cool

It says there is a 3 year warranty on the supercharger
But no mention of any warranty on the car
I would highly doubt it
Engine warranty gone with supercharger
along with drive train warranty
Suspension related warranty gone with springs
exhaust gone..etc..
not much stock stuff to be waranteed

hehehe.. sounds a little risky especially if you don't know the vehicle history... it would be different if you were buying it from a friend...

Yeah
I really like the idea of saving the money
But I wish there was a way I could get in contact with the owner that traded it in or sold it to the dealer (maybe it was a trade in on a newer s2k or NSX?
But ask him/her why they sold the car in the first place

yea... if only you could do that...

because it is an 01 as well... and we both know how many probs/tsbs there were for 00 and 01... you never know what that car could have been through... of course it depends on how much they are asking for the car too... if its dirt cheap.. than yea... it would justify the costs of fixing whatever (if any) problems may arise, but if its still expensive... maybe it might be more worthwhile to get one that wasn't raced...

My '01 has had no problems. '02s and '03s still have grinding issues. That aside, you might have to worry about the clutch, then the differential with that much power.

What about insurance issues?
Will they be listed as mods to the car, and thus raising my insurance, especially the SC, since it is a "modification to increase the speed or performance of a car" as the insurance companies love to say.

Just a thought, but you can go to http://publicdata.com/
with the vin number and look up the previous person that registered the car. You can get contact info from the above site and I'm sure an enthusiast that put that much time and money into the car wouldn't mind chatting about it a little.

Or it could be someone like me who babies the car everyday, and puts the supercharger on it just for a little more fun . Lately I have been thinking that I cannot afford the car anymore (due to me going back to school, and moving out in a few days). So its really not fair to say that the driver obviously abused it because he is selling it. Some things can happen that make the car not practical to own anymore....
